FAYETTEVILLE – Patrick Beverley’s pro basketball career could start earlier than anticipated.
Playing professional basketball abroad is one of the options Beverley, a two-year starter at Arkansas, can explore after the UA announced Friday that Beverley will not compete for the Razorbacks in the 2008-2009 basketball season.
Beverley is considering whether to secure a pro contract with a foreign team or stay in Fayetteville, according to a report on ESPN. com.
Sources contacted by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette said it’s unsure what Beverley’s next move will be but that playing pro ball is a possibility.
There might be a remote chance Beverley, a 6-1 guard from Chicago who would have been a junior this season, could play again for the Razorbacks in 2009-2010. Beverley is still listed on Arkansas’ roster on the athletic department’s Web site. [board discussion]
