UA Self-Reports 6 Minor Violations

FAYETTEVILLE Arkansas athletic department has selfreported six secondary NCAA violations involving the men’s basketball program dating to February 2007, but no major violations, according to a response Thursday to a state Freedom of Information Act request filed by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

Patrick Beverley, a junior guard who the university announced won’t play this season, told FOXSports. com last week that he violated NCAA rules and what happened went over the coaches heads and that his suspension from play had nothing to do with academics. The university had offered no explanation for Beverley’s suspension, citing student privacy laws.

But the state Freedom of Information Act response Thursday didn’t reveal an NCAA violation that would be serious enough to cause a player to be barred from competing for an entire season. [read more]
