FAYETTEVILLE — Tailback Michael Smith returned to practice on a limited basis Wednesday.
Smith, who suffered a concussion in Saturday’s 21-20 loss to Kentucky, worked for about 45 minutes in individual drills, sports information director Kevin Trainor said.
Coach Bobby Petrino is “encouraged” by Smith’s progress, Trainor said. Petrino would like to have Smith back for Saturday’s game against Ole Miss.
Arkansas has relied heavily on Smith so far this season. He ran 35 times in consecutive weeks and was knocked out of the Kentucky game after rushing for a career-high 192 yards.
Smith has also been a factor in the passing game and at punt returner.
Arkansas back-up quarterback Tyler Wilson is out indefinitely with mononucleosis. [read more]
