Razorbacks get some air time

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas is 8-1 but has been flying under the national radar this season.

The Razorbacks were picked in preseason polls to finish sixth in the West and lost star guard Patrick Beverley to academic ineligibility in August.

Arkansas also lost six seniors, and Coach John Pelphrey put together a nonconference schedule heavy on home games against mid-major teams knowing the Razorbacks faced a rebuilding season.

That combination of lost players, low expectations and early-season opponents doesn’t do much to excite the networks when they put together their college basketball schedules over the summer.

But Arkansas will make its first national appearance of the season when ESPN2 televises the Razorbacks’ game against Northwestern (La.) State at 5 p.m. today in Walton Arena. [read more]
