RECRUITING : Razorbacks’ talent hunt goes all over the map

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas Coach Bobby Petrino is preparing his team for spring drills, but also still keeping an eye on the recruiting front despite the fact it hasn’t been a month since he signed 32 prospects for the class of 2009.

Petrino is working on what will be his third class – but only the second that is completely his – at Arkansas. The Razorbacks are being aggressive with scholarship offers all over the nation.

In Illinois, the Razorbacks have offered Hillside Proviso West wide receiver Kyle Prater, 6-4, 200 pounds, 4.56 seconds in the 40-yard dash. Prater has 16 scholarship offers following a season in which he caught 60 passes for 948 yards and 9 touchdowns.

“Arkansas is a really good, traditional school in the SEC and they play great football in the SEC,” Prater said. “I called the coaches and I have talked to Coach Petrino and my position coach Paul Petrino. I like what [Paul Petrino] has to say about the program and what he feels would be my role at Arkansas.”

Among the others who have offered Prater scholarships are Illinois, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State and Stanford. [read more]
