FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas wide receiver Jarius Wright said he’s already built a good rapport with quarterback Ryan Mallett on the field, and that was evident in Saturday’s first scrimmage of the spring.
Wright, a sophomore from Warren, caught touchdown passes of 24 and 27 yards from Mallett for the first-team offense against the starting defense.
“Ryan’s a great quarterback,” said Wright, who had four receptions for 59 yards. “He makes the receiver’s job way easier than it usually has to be.
“I would compare him to an NFL quarterback with his size and arm strength. It’s just real nice having him back there to throw to you.”
Wright said on his first touchdown catch, he had a choice of running a hitch or fade route and went with the fade in the end zone, where Mallett lofted him the ball nicely. [read more]
