This time when Alain Bailey saved his best for last, he didn’t just salvage seventh place.
The University of Arkansas senior-to-be long jumper won a mid-August trip to Berlin representing Jamaica at the World Championships. He soared from third to first with a final jump personal record 26-11 to win Jamaica’s national meet.
All that eluded Baily in last month’s NCAA Outdoor Championships at his collegiate home in Fayetteville jumped back to his command at his Jamaican birth home.
In Fayetteville, Bailey came into NCAA nationals sizzling hot. He had jumped Arkansas to the SEC Outdoor team title in Gainesville, Fla. winning the league’s long jump and triple jump titles.
