Holy smokes, we got a basketball commitment this morning from BJ Young, a 6’4″, 170 point guard from Florissant, MO. He’s the #4 PG in the country and the #18 player overall, rated five stars by Rivals.com. He was in town for a recruiting visit this weekend and pulled the trigger. Surely he went to the football game and was wowed by the fan support.

He had an impressive showing at the U-17 AAU Nationals in early August.

He put on a show all week long. The gifted shooting guard scores the ball with ease and had a 40-point outing as well as several 30-point performances during the event. However, what is most impressive is that he does not hunt down shots. Young moves without the ball well, which is a concept most scorers don’t understand. When the ball is in his hands, he shows the ability to find open teammates and creates shots for himself by getting into the lane with his nasty crossover dribble. If defenders back off him, he will bury the 3-pointer. Young must work on developing his body to enhance his skills, but the high-major programs are calling and the list is getting longer for this prolific scorer.

Here’s a video of an interview with BJ.

Another interview, and some highlights.

He’s the third commit of this class, including #19 PF Hunter Mickelson and #26 PF Aaron Ross.

Also visiting was Antwan Space, the #14 PF in the country.

Elvishog,
If I have done something unethical, I apologize. But I posted a link of your recruiting piece on B.J. on HI without notifiying you. As a matter of fact I am going back now and give you credit, because I believe I can edit my email there. Great find.
