Cornerback Tevin Mitchell of Mansfield, Texas, switched his oral commitment from Nebraska to Arkansas on Monday, making the announcement during an interview on Sports Animal 920 radio in Little Rock, Ark.
Mitchell had been committed to the Huskers since June. He ranks as the No. 17 prospect in Texas, according to rivals.com, and the sixth-best cornerback nationally.
He was considered one of the Huskers’ top recruits and is set to play next month in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
Mitchell’s defection leaves Nebraska with 18 pledges for its class of 2011. Tight end Darien Bryant of Pickerington, Ohio, reneged last week on his NU commitment just days after accepting a scholarship.
