Tulsa Interested in McGee

According to several sources, Arkansas Razorbacks offensive coordinator Garrick McGee is the leading candidate for the head coaching vacancy at the University of Tulsa and possibly could be named head coach as quickly as today.

McGee and Texas A&M defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter are believed to be the finalists for the position vacated Monday when now former TU coach Todd Graham became the head coach at the University of Pittsburgh.

Chad Morris, TU’s offensive coordinator in 2010, and initially believed to be a leading candidate to succeed Graham, left TU before Graham did and became the offensive coordinator at Clemson. Morris said he plans to stay at Clemson.

Arkansas’ quarterbacks coach on Bobby Petrino’s first Razorbacks staff in 2008, McGee was promoted to offensive coordinator in addition to receivers coach in 2010 after offensive coordinator/receivers coach Paul Petrino left to become the offensive coordinator at Illinois.  Read more …
