Three Arkansas baseball players have been named Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-Americans.
Pitchers Barrett Astin and Nolan Sanburn and infielder Dominic Ficociello were selected by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. The Razorbacks have now had 16 freshman All-Americans in the program’s history with the last being current St. Louis Cardinals prospect Zack Cox in 2009.
Ficociello hit a team-best .335 and led the Razorbacks with 50 RBIs, 75 hits and 15 doubles. He hit .314 in Southeastern Conference play, helping Arkansas win the West Division.
Astin was 5-2 with three saves and a 2.72 ERA while pitching in a team-high 27 games and striking out 57 in 59 2/3 innings. Sanburn had a team-high eight saves in 24 relief appearances and struck out 35 in 32 1/3 innings.
