Arkansas picked up their 15th commitment of the 2012 class on Saturday with Carrollton (Hebron), TX defensive end Deatrick Wise, Jr. Wise is 6’5″, 230 lb with a 4.7 forty time. He chose the Hogs over offers from Arizona, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, and Arkansas State.
Looking to improve on a solid junior year, which saw him collect forty tackles and seven sacks, Wise camped at Arkansas’ Junior-Senior camp this summer and picked up an offer afterward. He also attended camp at TCU in July and performed well.
Wise is the third defensive end commitment of the class with Memphis (Ridgeway), TN Brandon Lewis and White Hall’s Jeremy Sprinkle the other two. We signed six last year but at least two have been working at other positions since fall camp opened.
His father, Deatrich Wise, Sr played college ball at Jackson State University, and then moved on to play in the CFL and in the Arena League. “My father has been around football all of his life, and since he has, I have too. He played some professional ball for a while and then went into coaching with the Tampa Bay Storm in the Arena League. Now he is a middle school teacher while he tries to help me prepare for my football future. Both of my parents are great role models and both support and help me with everything that has to do with my football recruitment, said Wise.”
