So if HDN is equal to incompetent coaching, and Gus is equal to competency, what does the sum of HDN and Gus equal to in comparisons to cockvisor?

Is the addition of a visor to our coaching staff worth about 3 wins?

I hear the argument, over and over and over, that we will never beat South Carolina with Spurrier as its coach.

Let me just use last year's game as an example as to why I believe that we not only will win this year, but why Nutt should be 1-0 versus the Visor.

Let it also be noted that Steve Spurrier is a f.cking offensive genius, that this was the 9th game of the year for SC and that we started a true freshman who had never taken a snap in a college football game of any sort.

Comments:

Mitchell went 12-25 for 142 yards and 2 TDs.  His 7 yard scoring pass to redshirt Sidney Rice  --  AFTER ARKANSAS WAS STOPPED ON 4TH AND 1 FROM ITS OWN 29 --  gave USC a 7-0 lead in the first f'n quarter.

Arkansas tied it on Dick's 4 yard pass to Hillis and led 10-7 at halftime, but could have led by more.   Jamal Anderson had a 24 yard interception return for a touchdown called back by Randy Kelly's holding penalty.   Then, later in the period, ARK failed to score from first and goal at the 1 (where the ball was spotted after Darren McFadden scored on the previous play) and settled for a 19 yard field goal.

RECAP:

They have a legend.  We have a semi-retarded 18 year old in a 55 year old's body.   They have a junior QB, we have a freshman playing in his first game.   They have scoring drives of 29 and 42 yards.    We score and have the ball moved back to the 1, where our retard once again fails to get a score.   We also return an INT for a score but our Safety who is 20 yards downfield has a handful of jersey.

Our Freshman passes for more yards than their guy.   We triple their rushing attack.  We hold the ball longer than they do.

Did I mention that our coach went for it, in the first quarter, on our own 29?   And that he went for it on each drive in the 4th quarter, and that 2 of those drives ended on downs when we were in FG range?

Finally, did I mention that the retard wont be in charge of deciding our offensive strategy or be calling 4 4th down plays this year?   Oh, and we actually should have a QB that can throw further than 5 yards this year?

Oh, and we didnt really lose anyone from last year's team.

Now, please feel free to explain to me how you KNOW that Spurrier will beat us this year.

That will be the worst SC team they will have as long as Coach Visor is there........btw, Mitchell was a SOPH QB.

I don't think SC lost too many starters either...did they?  I'm too lazy to check.

We will still have the same retard calling the shots.  The HC may not be calling all the plays, but he will still be the one that decides when and where to go for it on 4th down.  He will still waste at least 3 time-outs per game as he struggles in his decision making process.  The game is on the road.

They lost 2 DBs who declared for the draft, I believe.   Simpson and somebody else.

What kind of recruiting class did they have?

Ranked 24th by Rivals as compared to our 26th.  Not really much difference.

About like ours, maybe slightly better.  They had 8 signees that are listed as OLineman, 4 of which were 4 stars.  A 4-star QB Chris Smelley, and a 4-star DT.  I don't see many studs at the skill positions, which is where I would assume they would have racked up with Spurrier, although all I am going off of is Rivals' rankings.

scout had SC at 33 and UA at 30...again, not much difference.

can't tell how many starters are back from last year, but would guess it is less than us.

They may not have recruited any studs at the skill positions, but Sidney Rice and Syvelle Newton are more than adequate at the receiver positions.

Collegefootballnews.com shows them with only 10 returning starters (6 on offense and only 4 on defense).

I think that if we beat them it will be because we out man them, which I think we can do. If it comes to coaching, which it did last year, we are fricked.

Should 'a, could'a, would'a.  Until we actually DO beat a Spurrier coached team (which odds say will evetually happen) the feeling is that Spurrier's teams will beat Nutt's.

No doubt.

I am just a little surprised they didn't have a 4 or 5 star impact type player at WR or HB coming in to be the next great one in Spurrier's offense.  Their OL class coming in looks outstanding although most of them are probably a couple years away from seeing the field.

If someone can kidnap and then bag and gag Nutt in the team hotel or at least 500 yards away from the Hogs' sideline, I see us winning this game.

PG can correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Spurrier recruit on cruise control his last few years there?  That may not be good enough to get players to SC that can win to the level we expect from Spurrier teams.

It was no secret that SOS loathed recruiting.  He hates kissing ass, be it an 18 yr old, the media or octogenarian boosters...he hates it.  After the MNC in '96, much like Nolan, he EXPECTED kids to want to come to Gainesville, but that backfired in some critical positions, QB being the most glaring.  He defeated #1 FSU in '97 with the dynamic duo of Doug Johnson and Noah Brindise, but that proves that the guy can win on scheme and not necessarily with blue chip kids.

He hasn't changed about recruiting, in fact, he's probably worsened.  We saw several of his assistants this spring but he doesn't travel much anymore...and he definitely doesn't look at defensive kids.

You should've just stopped right there and saved yourself a lot of time and effort.

Yes, Nutt SHOULD be 1-0 against the Spurrier.   They SHOULD have won last year.  But playing at home with better talent against a Spurrier team that was still trying to find players to run his offense they still lost.

Nutt had his one shot at Spurrier last year and missed it.

We outplayed sc last year except for a handfull of nuttcalls, brutha...it was, arguably,  our best chance to evAr beat Spurrier.

It looks like he didn't recruit any impact WRs this year...maybe because he has 2 really good ones now and is short of OL which he did address.

He has a way to go before sc is "Spurrier good", so we prolly have a couple more years to get a win over a Spurrier team.

He may not be as avid a recruiter as he was many years ago, and maybe this combined with being at sc, will make him more beatable than he was when he had the gator thing and the Swamp going for him.

We WILL beat a Spurrier team in the next couple or three years unless we totally revert to Dale's old offense.  We may even beat them as often as not as long as the new offensive philosophy is allowed to prevail and as long as we have a good defense.  We just have to keep Nutt tied up somewhere.

If Spurrier gets SC rolling I guarantee that Williams-Brice will be every bit as difficult to play in as the Swamp.  Hell they have sucked ass for years and still fill their 80K stadium up every week.  Imagine what their fan base will be like when they get a bit of success.
