hey law_hawg, how awesome are the Alouettes? And what is an alouette, anyway.

I watched them destroy Toronto about a week ago. They're looking pretty strong this season.

Also, an alouette is apparently a French word for "skylark", although the team apparently took its name from a song.

Yeah I watched some of that game too. The Argos stink.

If you have Altitude on your cable or satellite provider, Michael Grant and the Toronto Argonauts are taking on the Montreal Alouettes today at noon. The winner gets a spot in next Sunday's Grey Cup (the CFL version of the Super Bowl).

Gavin Walls plays for Montreal, but won't be on the field today as he's on their 9-game injured list.

Also, for a piece of useless trivia, the Argonauts are the oldest professional football team in North America, having been founded in 1873.

Grant and Toronto fell 48-17 in a game that was never really close.

For those of you who love VERY cold-weather football, the other CFL game today is in Calgary between the Stampeders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. It's currently about 1 in Calgary. Yes, 1 degree Fahrenheit.

Kickoff is at around 3:30.

Three interesting things I learned while trying to mock your spelling and usage...

a.) "Foutain" is not a word, in any language I could find. That's weird. It looks like it should mean something somewhere
b.) People misspell "Fountain" a fucking LOT

Just got back from the Great White North and happened to catch a couple games on the tube. Didn't recognize any players.
On a sad note, we were eating breakfast one morning and they were showing a countdown on a sports show and #2 was the John L. Smith "smile" interview. The commentary was in French so I couldn't follow it but I'm sure it wasn't good.

CFL season started a couple of weeks ago and I've seen games on both ESPN2 and NBC Sports Network. Out of curiosity, I perused the 8 team rosters online and didn't see a single former Razorback on any of them this season.

I didn't. He might have got it on the second effort but there was apparently no reverse camera angle. The NFL would have spent 15 minutes reviewing it.

The CFL action has been pretty good so far, seems like ESPN is pushing it a little more than they had been. Are they showing fewer MLB games? I never watch baseball.

My new favorite channel is One World Sports. They're showing the T20 CPL Cricket tournament live. all matches. that shit is awesome. they also show rugby, NASL and a bunch of other sports that ESPN used to carry back in the day.

talk about game day atmosphere. Jeff et. al. need to take a page from these dudes. they give away prizes for best costume and catching balls in the crowd and a bunch of other shit.
