It was an intelligent reference seeing that Freggett (sp?) was hitting 3's in the BYU game from 30-32 ft. I was actually thinking the same thing SVP actually said. Can't believe he would reference back that far.

As a student at the time, I witnessed it and it was glorious.  I played some pick up games in the HPER with Al and some of his teamates.  It was not fun playing against Al because he shot it as soon as he got across half and I swear he never missed one.  Al never played in Barnhill.

Nice reference, still.

http://articles.latimes.com/1994-04-03/sports/sp-41846_1_college-basketball-player  From the day before the Duke game in '94.

The December of either his junior or senior year I somehow traded up with a friend of a friend and was sitting in those folding chairs behind the bench of whatever Louisiana compass school we were playing.  So in the first half, Dillard scores 8 points in about 10-12 seconds.  He hit a three, stole the in bounds pass for a lay up, then when someone knocked the ball loose when the opponent crossed half court, he grabbed it, pulled up just past the snout (even though it was 1-on-none), and hit another 3.  Bing, bam, boom.  Time out.

Thurman, who probably grew up with or played against half their team in high school, runs through their huddle on the way back to our bench and yells (ten feet from me), "I TOLD you my man was badass!"

He should be an inspiration to everyone currently bagging groceries in Bessemer, Alabama who can hit 89 out of 100 three pointers with nobody guarding him.

I was a student and at the game where he set the record for most threes in a single game.  I think it was the year after the NC.  Can anyone remember, was that Delaware St we were playing?
Gotta love the masterful stroke of genius displayed in the 2008 Cotton Bowl.  Back-to-back fake punt calls.

On the dark days I like to sit quietly in a dimly lit alcove, crushing up 250mg Nuvigil tablets and knitting tiny pink practice jerseys for Mr Whiskers.  I think of "The HerringBoner series" and soon my shrill peals of laughter echo forlornly out the window and across the courtyard.

Yep, 12 threes against Delaware State. Al could also throw down dunks when he got into the open court. I remember his specialty was bouncing the ball high into the air, then he would jump, grab the ball on the way up and throw it down.

No it wasn't. I remember sitting underneath the goal nearest the locker rooms for the Delaware St game and near the top of the lower level on the opposite end for the Clinton game.

Texas Southern was the game Clinton attended. 129-63 F THOSE were the days...

I think my favorite drubbing was the one we put on Missouri to open up BWA...that was pretty sweet.

To me that game was the absolute peak of Hawgball.  Obviously the national championship game was more important and a bigger thrill as a fan, but the Missouri game was easily the best performance of the Richardson era.

It could have...In my mind it was Mizzou but I could be wrong. Mizzou may have been the first National TV game or something.
