Rumor has it the SEC voted 12-0 to add the Aggies to the SEC.  I am serial.

Beat me to it. Saw this on TexAgs (which I mentioned in the practice reports thread):

Some rumors not as strong also include North Carolina and Mizzou.  Clemson is the favorite to match aTm in the East.

I have no idea why the bigger conferences don't just get together and say, hey let's all stick to 12 teams.  It makes the most sense mathematically, and it's perfect for a conference championship game.

But if the Big 8 is going to dissolve, I guess we'd rather have A&M than the cocksuckers at Texas or OU.

Texas wants to dictate and the Oklahoma schools really dont give the SEC anything they dont already have.  A&M puts the SEC in Texas and they are willing like a Baylor coed.

I wonder how that will affect our series?  Do we go home and home with them and play someone else in Jerry's World?  Would adding them to the conference supercede the contract to play them in Dallas?  It will be interesting to see how that's handled.

Aggies in my office are going crazy.  They're "hearing" that there will be an announcement in the next few days and that WVa has received an invite to join the ACC to fill the void left by Clemson heading to the SEC.

The contract has no conference affiliation qualifiers... but it's lucrative.

They would continue to play out the contract in Arlington. Just like UGA and UF in Jacksonville.

I hate this.  I like getting to play Florida, Tenn, and GA 2 out of every 5 years.  Now, we'll either play them less OR we'll stop playing South Carolina every year, which would be fine with me.

Perhaps an open letter will slow the process.

Why Clemson? They don't even bring a new market. VA. Tech makes more sense.

You make a good point.  I doubt Va Tech wants any part of the SEC.

Clemson seems to be both the only school willing to part conferences with other schools in their state, and the only school the SEC wants, considering geography and TV revenue.

OU?  Not going to split with OSU
Mizzou? SEC don't want em
VA Tech? Not going to split with UVA
FSU/GA Tech/Miami? SEC don't need em

I don't think Clemson is quality addition to the conference -- they would be fighting with SoCar and Tenn for the number 3-5 spot in the division.

Then again, A&M isn't exactly going to set the western division on fire. They'll be fighting with Dead Trees and MissSt for the number 4-6 spot.

If Dale or some other mediocre coach were leading the Hogs, I would be worried to have A&M in the conference, if only because they take away the "come play in the big boy league" argument that we can give a Texas recruit.

With Petrino at the helm, we've positioned ourselves a notch above A&M, making the argument "come play for the big boy school."

With Clemson, we will have three Tiger mascot van tails to possibly burn each year.

Going bigger than twelve teams is going to cause scheduling problems and make it even tougher to win the conference.  If the SEC chooses to expand, obviously, A&M is a great way to get into Texas for television and recruits.  It would be great to add UNC in the east, but they wouldn't be smart enough to want it.

In my opinion, the right move would be to add Missouri, to get the St. Louis and Kansas City tv markets, and just move Dead Trees over to the SEC East.

Don't all 12 schools have to agree on who the conference brings in?  I don't think USCe would be in favor of bringing in Clemson.

I'd think they would want them. It's a great rivalry. What other rivalry does USCe have?

Let's just play Bammer in a best of 12 and be done with it.

If one of those reports was right and A&M is joining next year how will that work schedule-wise?  a 14th team would have to be added at the same time or you would have a scheduling nightmare.  I understand A&M might be willing to say screw it and start next year but a Clemson or someone more respectable might give a year or two of notice.
