All the NFL guys are super happy to see a college coach fail and Urban Meyer was all too easy to oblige. ESPN talking heads are out in full force tossing out names for the gig. Byron Leftwich probably will end up with a head coaching gig. The KC OC...maybe not so much, he's going to have to get out of Andy Reid's shadow but I can't blame him for not leaving the best QB in the league not named Brady.
Jacksonville just seems like a great place to go to if you want to stick a fork in your career and maybe have some walking away money when you are fired 1-3 years later. Finbaum on earlier saying nobody will ever touch Urban Meyer again (as a coach not a guy in a bar with money)...I'll take that bet. I'll say someone will desperate will ring his phone in the next 2 years. Maybe a PAC12 program like Arizona State when they are done with Herm Edwards.
Urban will be too proud to go to those programs. He quit on Florida when it was apparent they were going to be mediocre.

Trevor Lawrence is probably wishing he would have pulled an Eli. The Jags are a total shitshow as a franchise.
To honestly think an out of work college coach was going come into the NFL and even tread water much less reach .500 speaks volumes.

If a franchise ever gets moved abroad, it will be Jacksonville.

LSU would have two weeks ago.

After Sark is done ruining Texas, they will be like a crack ho looking for a fix. They will take CUM any way he want to come.

As usual, Finebaum is doing his prisoner of the moment shtick. He once stuck a fork in Lane Kiffin's carer....we see how that turned out.
As for Meyer, he's only 57. The guy obviously isn't wired like a normal person and lives to compete and win. He'll be back in college ball at a pretty good P5 job. It actually wouldn't shock me to see him back at OSU at some point if Day ends up making the jump to the NFL, though it wouldn't surprise me if Meyer flaming out like he did poisons the well for college coaches wanting to jump to the NFL, at least for a while.

The same media who gave him a pass for years is now "waking up" to the kind of man he really is. It's been a slow road to this point but now we are here and his path to a P5 elite job in my mind is going to be difficult. My thoughts just take me to a place where he can fade away while probably winning at a decent enough clip to retire respectable. Like in the PAC12.
He would win at Texas for sure...well at least until they get into the SEC. Personally I don't think ole Urb wants any part of the SEC especially if the league takes Texas and OU earlier than 2025. A lot can happen before then such as Saban getting super old and done.
With all that being said...provided no other truth bombs are released I would certainly think someone is going to try to hire him. I agree entirely that Finebaum is doing the prisoner of the moment routine.
He should maybe look at slumming it down in the HBCUs like Deion...build up his street cred.

Agree that he wants no part of the SEC, especially an expanded SEC that still features a dominant Saban.
Too bad for Oregon that they had to pull the trigger on Dan Lanning when they did. Urban could've killed it at a place like Oregon.

I remember when Ohio State beat Alabama in the CRB, Finebaum doing his prisoner of the moment shtick with declining Saban and Bama dynasty over.
Saban. Yep.
But he's the original Clay Travis and knew the gumps will be fired up about it.

Travis has made a lot of money by stealing both Finebaum's SEC pot stirring shtick/persona and Deadspin's anti-ESPN coverage.

Urban will have issues to overcome. Protecting a miserable wife beating coach. Hiring a racist coach at jags for one day. 31 players arrested at Florida. Quitter. Screwing around on his team and his wife. Kicking players. Lying to everyone. If he wants to coach he’ll coach. Depends on how much money he gets from Jags.

When Bobby Petrino is in line to talk to St. Peter about getting to heaven, he wants to be sure he's behind Hitler, Bill Clinton, and Urban Meyer.

They brought Bobby up today on GMFB. Said Bobby was the model of college to NFL failure, until Urban. They took BP off the hook and but Urban up there.

Bud Wilkinson set the standard 45 or 50 years ago. Of course he wasn't unlikable like Meyer or Petrino but he was thoroughly incapable. I can't remember the last college coach that did well in the NFL, gotta be one here or there, maybe somebody who you forget was ever a college coach.

Is Pete Carroll the most recent one? Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer are on the list, but that’s going back 30ish years.
