Never said 2005.  You did, I guess.

Apparently, Fayetteville High grew so much it needed a brand new building, which they built, but they didn't need an additional school.

They do have an athletic advantage, however you want to look at it.  They didn't just suck, then be the best overnight without an advantage.  And that advantage isn't just Daryll Patton.

Uhhhh yeah they have tons more talent then they ever use too...

The buildings were old and needed to be updated to keep up with the rest of their 7A brethren. Fayetteville probably had the worst academic buildings of the Big Six (FHS, SHS, HB, Rogers, Heritage, Bentonville). Now it's the Big Seven with the addition of West.

As for the athletic advantage, yes it helps that they are the only show in town nowadays, but even before 2005, Fayetteville held its own in football, it had just been unable to ever break through and win state. They were a basketball powerhouse and the baseball program was always strong, as well as girls basketball and other niche sports like golf, cross country, track and field, tennis, etc.

I'm not so certain FHS has that big an advantage. Numbers wise, it's not much.

West Campus had at least 100 students in the 70's. There were other alternative schools as well.

I always enjoy reading the way people basically make up shit about Fayetteville to explain away why FHS excels at virtually every aspect of high school achievement.  The new complex is breathtaking.

West campus still has a tiny little enrollment, judging by the 12 kids I see walking there in the morning.

Every high school needs a new building every 40 years. That's basic public infrastructure.

I always assumed Fayetteville had an advantage being a university town and having the kids of former athletes, current coaches, etc and the extra community support that brings in.  Or maybe just being more sports-centric because kids are into Razorback sports there.

Is that not most of why Fayetteville does a little better?

Also: Economic advantages. Fayetteville's 'poor' side is getting smaller by the year. FHS has some of the most 'advantage' athletes this state has ever seen. Kind of like the way Southside used to be.

Per the paper this morning, Fayetteville High School has the highest average ACT scores and the highest participation rates in the region, only being surpassed by the Haas Hall Academy schools in Fayetteville and Bentonville.

There are currently 5 kids going to FHS that made a perfect ACT score.    It isn't just athletics.

Jesus Christ you really are an idiot. You don't know shit about FHS apparently. The West campus has NOT been around since 2005. It was bought by NWACC to be their Technical Center. The West campus was where the "Alternative" students went. You know, the ones who couldn't stay out of trouble. There were maybe 30-40 students at the West campus when it was around (11 years ago).  The West Campus students were moved to the FHS campus when NWACC purchased the West Campus.

So, once again, Fayetteville does not have an athletic advantage by having only 1 high school like you seem to think.

Not to defend AP's ignorance, but West Campus was around at least as early as 1977.

Well, it wasn't a dildo attack this time, but apparently "Fuck Benton" was carved into the panther statue in front of Benton High School yesterday.

Did the Mighty Mighty Hall High Warriors not field an American football team this fall?

They are fielding one.

Hall hasn't won a game since 2011.

To expound a bit further on Hall's futility the past few years . . .

Hall's last win was on September 16, 2011, when they beat Arkadelphia 35-21.  Since that time, they have a 47-game winless streak going.  The only non-loss during that time was a 6-6 tie against North Pulaski on September 5, 2014.

Can't get much worse.  Maybe they should just stick to basketball and soccer.

Still bugs me they don't play Central, Catholic and Parkview anymore.  Goes to show you where they got left in the pecking order of LRSD high schools.  Last time they beat Central in football was 1995 when I was a sophomore and we should've won my senior year in 1997 but your boy NotoriousPIG liked to throw it to the other team.

Hall plays Fair on Friday, LR Fair has won 4 games since 2008. Talked to a friend that saw Fair at a jamboree last week and said they looked like a Jr. High team, Earle was running all over them.  So maybe the Warriors can get a W here.
Let me tell you what Melba Toast is packin' right here, alright. We got 4:11 Posi-trac out back, 750 double pumper, Edelbrock intake, bored over 30, 11 to 1 pop-up pistons, turbo-jet 390 horsepower. We're talkin' some fuckin' muscle.

Fair dresses their entire team for Monday night JV games.  Only way they have enough to play, and they figure its better than just having a practice.  They don't win those either.

We used to hate to play Fair back in the Eskola days.  They were always the most physical high school team you would play that year.  Would just beat you to pieces.

Maybe they should find a way to let Fair and Hall combine their teams and play as one?

If the results I looked at are correct, Fair is 1-52 between 2011 and 2015.

way to go my fellow bryant hs students.

i may or maynot have been involved in a prank on the panther statue my senior year at bryant.  i can give no further info as that is an unsolved case and I may or may not be incriminating myself.
After that 56-3 beatdown by Auburn Saturday he will be known only as Bert until he wins an SEC title.  That is the only way he gets back in teh good graces enough to be called by the name his momma gave him.
