I think he would've helped Diaz immensely.
I saw Diaz play SS enough in AA to see that he isn't a bad defender at the position.
He had some awful luck early on, though.
I really hope Hillary can run in 2016 and wins

Defensive metrics account for the fundamental errors in using E's and fielding pctg as comparative stats, hoss.

ok...hoss.

If he's out there, I'm for him.  You can watch the games, recognize he led MLB second basemen in errors in only 147 games and admit he hasn't been solid yet, it's ok.

I'm ready for him to remove the "potential" tag.

I watch plenty of games. I've watched him play plenty.
Also, you're taking his 17 errors from 2015 and extrapolating that out on his abilities as him being bad, when even the zone metrics in that season have him above average. Errors do not tell the full story of defensive play at any position. Peralta, for example, has a steady glove, but he is usually one of the more underwhelming defensive shortstops metric-wise. He pretty much only made the routine plays in one of the smaller zones out there.

His 2015 was certainly subpar for his abilities. You won't find me arguing that point.
On batted balls fielded or "not-fielded" (for lack of a better term) going through a defenders "zone," they are rated Impossible, Remote, Unlikely, Even, Likely, Routine, based on the likelihood of an average MLB starter making the play.
In 2015, Wong put up a 62.5% on "Likely" plays (14 instances). We can reasonably expect this to be an outlier, because
2013: 100% (1)
2014: 92.9% (14)
2016: 92.3% (13)

On "Even" plays, his 2015 numbers were 20% (10).
2013: 0 plays.
2014: 50% (6).
2016: 71.4% (7)
The numbers continue down the line, except for "routine" plays. His statistics on "Routine" plays actually are right in line with the other seasons:
2013: 100.0% (43).
2014: 96.1% (305).
2015: 96.7%  (449).
2016: 97.5%  (242)

Rumors swirling that Fowler doesn't wanna play for Matheny and Cardinals due to culture of racism. Seems nothing has changed since Enos Slaughter up there.

Yeah. That's some made up bullshit. All of it.

Fowler expected to sign with Cards tomorrow.

probably swirling from the same Cubs fan asshole that started the shit about hearing n-bombs from the Busch crowd on ESPN directed at Heyward... Despite absolutely no audio evidence being found....

Cards threw down a 5th year and pending a physical, he'll be wearing the birds on the bat.
Let's play.

What? We just won the wold series and will be favored again. Plus we got your first round pick. Cardinals will not be good.

No the Cubs don't get that pick. The Cards lose that pick and the Cubs get a sandwich pick.

Cardinals have improved... Outfield is shored up,  bullpen is better, rotation drops Jaime and likely moves Wacha to the pen for Reyes and Lance Lynn.
I'm not sure how you can say that they aren't good, at this point. That's preposterous.

I'd like to try and sign Turner, but we'll see.

So Lynn coming off injury and Reyes who will need to be shut down early? Good luck. The pen looks like trash too. Hopefully the Pirates will be able to rebuild or this division is going to be boring for a long time.

LOL. It's has the potential to be one of the better pens in the NL.

Troll.

Also if they were so concerned about Lynn and Reyes, why would they release each of them for potential play in the WBC?

Reyes has never pitched more than 109 innings or something like that. Good luck. Farm system was already weak now you lose the first round pick.

Post Dispatch saying Turner is a non starter with Mo.  uh...ok...why, but ok.  Now speculating picking up Encarnacion or Trumbo, moving Carpenter to third.  More I think about this the less sense it makes.  Why not get Turner, leave Carpenter at first where you committed to him.  Either way Peralta moves to the bench or is traded.

Right.

Worst farm system.
Worst bullpen.
Worst lineup.
Worst rotation.

How will they ever win a game?

5 years 82.5M seems a bit much for Dexter Fowler, but I could be wrong.
Let me tell you what Melba Toast is packin' right here, alright. We got 4:11 Posi-trac out back, 750 double pumper, Edelbrock intake, bored over 30, 11 to 1 pop-up pistons, turbo-jet 390 horsepower. We're talkin' some fuckin' muscle.

I think so too, but reading now that market was dictating this.  Cards saying they had money and didn't want to give up Reyes for anybody else.

Epstein looks like a genius right now. Stockpile bats with higher floor and more guaranteed value in post-gorilla ball era. Now have a plethora of excess bats that aren't part of the core that will be moved for cost controlled pitching when Arrieta and Lackey roll off.

A great signing by the Cards, filling several needs at once.  See ya Dex.
5/$82M though...wow.

I refuse to believe that the Cubs are sitting pat with a Jay/Almora CF.
