I'll occasionally watch Around the Horn and try to catch PTI regularly. Those are the only shows I watch on ESPN, outside of games.

When it became a sports parody it's been on a death spiral.

So it's following the same model as MTV who used to feature music and ground breaking content...but now features well I don't know. Does that channel even exist? I noticed TNN is back by popular demand to make America great again.

Espn just had a 30/30 feature win a oscar. It's still putting out great content, it's problem was trying to grab up so much market share that they ended up crashing the whole fucking thing and other network families followed a similar pattern. They out spent everyone else but also have substantial issues with paying for it all. In their hast for market share and forced package adoption they made the base programming too expensive. I think my Dish AT250 package is more than double what I started out paying for. Espn takes up about 20-25 dollars of that from what I understand.

I think the left-leaning thing was a bad decision, but it's not what's killing ESPN.

We all went crazy for Sportscenter and ESPN back in the day because we could get a summary of everything.  The internet does that much better and quicker nowadays.

To me there's no difference between ESPN and any of the other stations that show football/basketball/baseball.  With a few exceptions, nobody cares about ESPNs original content anymore.  So ESPN = ABC/Fox/CBS etc.

Let us check a recent search of the video archives

Left leaning you say.......

I'm thankful for ESPN, and I damn sure don't want to go back to the days of one or two Hog games per year being televised.

That said, they deserve to have to eat a little shit for giving D-Mac's Heisman to Tebow, for giving Peyton Manning's Heisman to Charles Woodson, and for subjecting us to Chris Berman for about 15 years past the end of his shelf life.

I hated ESPN after the Manning deal and totally quit watching it except for games after they propagandized D-Mac out of the Heisman. Haven't missed it a bit.

SVP's SC is phenomenal.

Wish he'd go back to his radio show.

Bring Tony's show back, too.

Best show ever, they have radio shows on espn that try to to be edgy/funny like his show was. They just come across as smug.

Kornholer is doing a podcast now and sounds very happy with it.  He said he wanted to do something where he owned all his own content.  Podcast is very good.

He and Wilbon were great together. SVP is the only show worth watching anymore.

I don't know if I have seen even one person ever say they like Stephen A Smith but ESPN keeps trotting him out there as if he's really something.

It all started when they stopped airing Australian Rules Football.

Disney has been saved by ESPN making money but now the cash cow is struggling hence the cuts and the need to pay crazy ass rights fees as some major deals are coming up.

Also the number of folks cutting cable decreases income as they get paid by cable companies based on homes served regardless of if that home gets the package that includes ESPN.

Hell, look what they paid for Monday night football, there is no way they break even on that but they gotta have it.

The big question is do they start offering non-cable subscriptions like HBO now?

HSN is probably $1 per month where ESPN is between $7 - $8 just for the primary channel.

Gone are the days with Tom Mees, Gayle Gardner, Greg Gumbel, Bob Ley,  Charlie Steiner...

I do like Steiner on the Dodgers games.  There is a handful of announcers I will listen to not affiliated with the Cardinals and he is one.
