For the record, the sheet with UNC as champs is my entry for here. Don't know how the other group I am in showed up here.
The room looked like the site of some horrible zoological experiment involving whiskey and gorillas....

i said i wasn't filling one out, but i got sucked in by my coworkers and their $5 old school paper sheet bracket.  if they had done an online i wouldn't have participated...or if it had been more than $5.

just when I think i'm out, they pull me back in.

Take your pany assed office bracket talk elsewhere. The men are talking about their failed brackets here.

I seem to suck at brackets even though I think I'm such a brilliant guy.

It's like the brackets don't appreciate my intelligence.

Maybe if they did braces.

With 44 entries in my pool, there is one entry that is perfect 19-0 so far.  My bracket is 16-3,  Losses, Vermont, Vandy and Okie St.

Me too. I had SMU.  But have Rhode Island, so a win over Creighton would bring me back a bit.

I had them beating Baylor too.

Rhodie is another of my genus moves.

Congrats to stevenb88 for his "bielema's gastic bypass" bracket. He was the only one with both team in the championship.

Son of Spam took second.

kdloker came in third.

If he can pm me an address and a shirt size, I'll send him a shirt. I think I finished dead last.

I just looked at it.  Your close but not last.  I finished dead last, distant last, in my extended family pool.

I'm consistently terrible at brackets.  I usually favor East Coast and Metro teams, I try to be realistic with the Hogs and usually feel like the SEC teams are undervalued.

I always choose KS and KY to choke as quickly as I can justify it.

i didn't compete in this years woopid challenge.  i filled out one in a work pool and its the worst bracket i've filled out since I started filling them out in 6th grade.  i had 26 out of 32 games in the first round, then it went to complete shit.

i usually do much better, but have never won a pool.  here are my strategies.  obviously they need to be tweaked since i've never won...but i've come oh so close so many times.

all 1-4 seeds advance in the first round.  this year i broke this rule, picked vermont over purdue b/c vt was on a 29 game win streak or some such shit.  it burned me as purdue won and then beat my sweet-16 team iowa state who i had beating kansas and making the elite 8.

pick 2 12's and 2 11's to win 1st round games.  9's and 10's are toss ups.  for the 8-9 winner go with the team from the better conference.  for the 10-12 winners, pick the team that is playing better entering the tourney.

don't pick any cinderella's to advance to the sweet 16, it happens, but its hard to predict.

don't pick all 1-4 seeds in the sweet sixteen.  as cerdo pointed out, there are some teams that have an affinity to choke away a 2nd round game, like duke, kansas, and kentucky.  duke is an anomaly, they are either out by the 2nd round or in the final four.

if michigan state is a top 7 seed, put them in your sweet 16 and maybe the elite 8 depending on matchup.  if they are a top 4 seed, put them in the final four.  izzo's track record in the tournament is exceptional.

no more than two 1 seeds in the final four.  just go with your gut on who is the best team to win each matchup once you get to the sweet 16 and do it one game at a time.  don't make villanova your national champion before filling out the rest of your bracket because you think they are the best.
