One good thing to come out of more accurate metrics is that pitcher wins are pretty much recognized now as mostly useless to evaluate pitchers with.
I really hope Hillary can run in 2016 and wins

Cards need to move Rosie back to closer.  Oh has been giving up too many long balls, and Cecil has  something like 5 blown saves in 5 opportunities.

O's starting pitching is awful. I was concerned about that when the season started and they were fool's gold for 40-45 games. Since then they've been historically bad.

We've been warning y'all about this shit.
People on twitter were trying to say Sierra was bunting for a hit, but it did not look it.

Wainwright doubled after that, so we'll probably see it again.

Matheny just called a bunt...with the pitcher on deck.
Matheny has to go.  He is like a kid playing Madden who goes for it every 4th down because you know fuck it.

Cubs 2.5 out. Contreras is crushing in the cleanup spot. There's talk they may get him extended on a team friendly deal soon. It's looking like Dillon Maples will be called up soon for bullpen help. Crazy story. Was in A ball to start the year and looked like he was a bust now he's throwing smoke.

Cubs just swept a road trip, and play 11 out of the next 13 in Chicago.  As a Cub fan, I must warn you that you will soon be seeing posts saying the Cubs have solved the Health Care issue, shut Russia down, and have added Viagra ingredients to certain coffees.

You think I'm teasing?

Maples story is kinda similar to Aledmys Diaz's from last season. Interesting.
Diaz was waived and thrown on the scrap heap while in AA. Cleared waivers, hung around, then started hitting. Never really stopped until he got hurt midseason last year. Not sure he has ever gotten quite right after that.

DeJong, who is a similar hitter with more power, really...  has just out played him this year. Really don't mind Diaz getting work in AAA.
Not sure either is the long-term answer at SS anyways, and DeJong provides a bit more flexibility positionally.

The media has been setting up that "here come the Cubs" angle all season.

Well, yeah.  They won the WS and returned basically the entire team.  It would have been a shock had they not started playing well.

I mean... we're more than halfway through the season and this iteration of the Cubs has its flaws, no doubt.
I wasn't complaining, btw. I was just saying...  the media has been 100% waiting for the Cubs to make a race of it here.

Cubs ratings >>>> Brewers ratings.  Otherwise, networks wouldn't give a shit.  I do think the game is healthier when classic middle America teams like the Cubs, Tigers, Indians are playing well again.

Cards just worked a god damn split against the New York fucking Mets.
Fucking awful.

Enjoy watching Carlos pitch this weekend, and watch how the Cardinals once again squander the efforts of one of the best starting pitchers in the game.
Cubs are on a roll and have no excuse to not completely mow down the cardinals.

Matheny has completely lost this team, yet again, and it's going to be the same shit until this organization puts its balls on the table and wants to play.
They should be trying to trade any player on this team that they can at the deadline, besides Carlos Martinez and maybe Jedd Gyorko. Get whatever value you can get and rebuild.

They swept the O's. I wouldn't get too excited about that. I don't even know if you could consider it a road game since there were as many bandwagon fans in blue at OPACY as there were folks in Orange for the 2 games I attended.

The Cubs have filled opposing parks forever, long before they won anything.

Players calling each other out.
I applaud the accountability, but it's pretty empty at this point, especially coming from a guy that has single-handedly cost this team multiple games on the bases.

To clarify, Jose Reyes had a walk-off infield single today because Rosenthal forgot to cover first on a ball down the line fielded by Carpenter. Reyes obviously beat Carp to the bag, run scored, game over.
