Freezer Issue
« on: July 25, 2017, 09:44:48 PM »
Basically frig is just over a year old. Kenmore. the fridge, the freezer part constantly freezes over and it gets so much ice build up that it starts to get into the fan area and you can hear it running as you come up the stairs outside. Any idea what's going on? I'm pissed cause it's just passed the warranty. I'm gonna call this handyman guy I know but didn't know if anyone had better idea or someone that's good at fixing these type things

Faulty door seal most likely. Humid outside air is getting in.

I had one where the condenser drain was not working so when it would defrost the ice would build up. The drain had a small rubber piece that was stuck closed. Poor design and common problem. Not hard to fix thanks to YouTube but had to take off a bunch of parts so it took a while. I wouldn't think yours would be the same given its age but it is possible.

You might google your exact model with symptoms of the problem so you have some knowledge when you talk to a service guy. The more you know... Good luck.

It could be what was mentioned above or it could also be a bad sensor or cold control. Play with the temp dials and see if it has any control over temp
