Sumlin's seat has to be on fire right now.  Who are possibilities should the Aggies pull the trigger?

He'll keep his job until we beat them 9/23 then he's fired.

That was not a good team we barely beat at home.  We seriously may not win another game this season. - BASS January 20, 2018, 07:40:43 PM

If they do not kick Chavis to the curb like Sumlin, they should get the band back together and hire Les.

Bob Stoops' name has already been mentioned among fans.  Won't happen, but they're ready for someone new.

PJ Fleck, come on down.

Chip Kelly and they'd take Bama's place at the top. Hope I'm wrong.

If this happens Tejas will spiral down the drain and OU will run the Big 12 for the next 10+ years.

I am shocked. Delightfully, hysterically shocked. I saw the score when A&M was up big and just went about my night.

Lo and behold.

I can only hope this leads to a complete and total collapse from here on out.

I am not claiming I am right, I am saying I don't get it.

Bobby Petrino will be due for another move soon and would like to fuck Jeffery Long with a volleyball.

They could probably hire Johnny Fball pretty cheap.

We should all pray that Aggie keeps Sumlin all season long.  The question mark by his name gives us a yuge opportunity in recruiting.

11.25 million ain't shit for them. Their endowment is 9.75 billion. Yes, I know they can't use that to pay off Sumlin,  but that's the kind of dollar figures floating around those collie fuckers.

The iconic 'alien' is to us what we are to apes: small, pale, big headed, and with unfathomable technology. We even abduct them for medical experiments. Mind blown.

I will lose my gotdam mine if Aggy beats us for the 6th year in a row. We've historically dominated the series, but Sumlin has owned us.

I figure one of the big Aggie pitches to recruits is "don't you want to play in the SEC like the big boys" while still being near home.

I thought we had a golden opportunity for that to be our sales pitch in Texas for a while until Aggie kind of messed it up for us.

How active are we in recruiting Texas???
Given that what. 1/4 of the students are from there - how are we not getting more FB players from there?

I think we all wonder why our coaches seem to spend so much time on Florida kids regime after regime while Texas gets sporadic play.

I can't even comprehend where we are in the pecking order for a South Dade recruit but it must be behind VA Tech, at least.   If we played our cards right with TX kids, we could be at least Oklahoma's near equal - their tradition vs our SEC glitz.

I'm not expert but I have heard the assertion that TX kids come well coached and ready to play but already closer to their ceiling, whereas kids from the other talent-rich states have a higher talent to development ration therefore giving them more upside.

How are the associated strength and conditioning programs in Texas high schools? Are they emphasized much at the bigger schools? Pretty lackluster in my high school program. With the amount of growth that occurs during that age, seems more potential would be a possibility when getting under a collegiate weight training and nutrition program. I'm no expert either, but I would imagine those schools in Texas have some badass weight rooms. We still used 5 pound spin-on metal collars in my rural high school.

I don't think these losses have anything to do with whether Texas high schools have great weight programs or their potential or what.  Like Florida, Texas gets recruited due to the strength of high school football, which is actually growing in participation, and shear numbers.  Bret had little experience in Texas but he needs to get with it.  JFB built on the program on his Texas network bak when it was a pain if the ass to get to Fayetteneam.

The big losses are coincidental separate events.  A&M had a coaching meltdown in a sure win.  Tom Herman is trying to fix a problematic program swimming in money and influence which might be too big for anyone.  Baylor is recovering from RapeGate and the fact that the players are Briles players; they have a lot of issues to fix.

I coached in a 3A school in Texas (Frenship, if you must know) that is much bigger today as Lubbock has spread out into its school district.  I also coached at a 3A school in Arkansas (Camden Fairview, if you are really interested) that was very close in size.  Today it is the only school in town, so it is substantially bigger as well.

We had 13 football coaches grades 7-12 at Frenship (spelling is correct).  6 at Fairview.

At Fairview we didn't really play 7th grade FB.  At Frenship it was life and death, with two, count em two full time 7th grade coaches.  All 70 something 7th grade football kids at Frenship got to play all game long as we divided the class into 4 teams and played everyone against another school's 4 teams.  6 minute quarters, get em on and get em off.  Every coach would attend so we could ride herd on all the little darlins', get them suited up and send them out to the 7th grade coaches waiting for them.  A big operation.

We had 2 full time JV coaches at Frenship,   We had  2 full time 9th grade coaches.  JV was not something focused upon much at Fairview.  9th grade, or Jr. High, WAS a big deal at Fairview.

Weight lifting made its appearance in the late 70's in Texass.  I was a competitive power lifter, and the head coach that hired me was as well.  We had a weight program that integrated squats, power cleans and inclined bench presses.  Teams that didn't lift, or did chicken-shit programs like speed weights or only dabbled with the iron were ripped apart and VERY quickly got on the band wagon.  By the time I left the state (1985-86) the only teams that didn't lift much invariably had basketball coaches as the AD.

Not saying anything good or bad about the emphasis put on FB by the two states.  It is what it is.

Just ask the Axis

That's that same old Jimmy Johnson deal that gets repeated a thousand times.  If your deal is trying to find poor, underfed potential talent - you can find plenty of impoverished high schoolers in Texas just like anywhere else.  I'm pretty sure not every kid in Texas is on a full time weight and nutrition program with a personal coach.

The fact is, there's a ton of all of it in Texas - developed studs, diamonds in the rough, etc.  East Texas, N LA, Dallas and Houston - all of that ought to be our bread and butter for 75% of our out of state energy.
