Look at UF and their current search.

Their fans are melting down right now with Kelly seemingly going to UCLA and Frost a likely to Nebraska.

I am not claiming I am right, I am saying I don't get it.

We can sugar coat it however we want, but it was tacky and UA will get hammered for it until the news cycle turns over.

I get the intent, but it's still tacky.
Props to Bielema for handling it well and addressing the media and remaining about as classy as an outgoing coach could be.

These coaching searches are never easy as a fan, because it exposes the program and everyone feels the need to do an autopsy and give their opinions on how or what or why something happened and what or where or whom should be the answer or direction that it goes.
Lots of talk until a new coach is hired.

For my sanity, I try to not take it personal.
Hopefully we get a good coach soon and can inject some enthusiasm back into this thing.

How is it tacky?  They wanted to give him the chance to tell his players before they all scattered in different directions tonight to go back home for the rest of the holiday weekend.  They also left the decision to address the media to him.

UCLA is probably a better fit for Kelly.  So, Gruden to Tennessee, Gus stays at AU and Petrino to Florida?

Props to Julie Peoples for getting shit done.

I actually think she should be made for-real AD.  I'm sure the decisions came from above, but she's the one signing her name to everything.  That shit counts.  She cannot be worse than Jeff Long at name-signing or decision-making.  Julie Cromer Peoples for AD.

Schools have fired coaches in a fashion that isn't grabbing the coach as he's walking off the field plenty of times.
I understand the intent, but that wasn't the only way to do it.
It was tacky and it wasn't a great look and media types are all over it.

If the intent was to let him address the team, maybe they should have done it earlier in the week. I don't know.
Just my view of it.

I’ve never experienced anyone working at CFA being a jerk or rude but yesterday I encountered a guy in the drive thru who was not only rude but a jerk. When I finally had my order and he didn’t even say my pleasure I yelled “thanks for being a jerk” and drove off.

I don't think it was tacky. We had to have it done ASAP so we can see who all WANTS the job.  We need to know our future options immediately ( and hopefully have been in contact with options #'s 1, 2, and 3; feeling them out).

Whether it's Gus, Norvell, or whomever, the state gets behind them and recruiting starts immediately.

Bret is a media darling, however we did it the media would jump on us. Like you said originally though, this is a short lived story and will be forgotten in 24 hours, if it even takes that long.

You don't think they already have a pretty good idea about that?

I don’t give a shit about how a guy who is being paid an extra six million dollars simply because he sucked at his job was dealt with. 11-29 in the SEC and he made a boatload of money. WAHHHHH

They just talked about it during this UVA/VT game. Both guys said it wasn’t surprising and moved on.

We let him finish the season while a lot of people were calling for his head early. We let him coach the last game of the season. Then we pulled the trigger, which deep down, you know he had to know. I think we handled it pretty well. Most teams would have fired him sometime during the season the way it was going.

He said in his press conference that he is glad it happened that way. It allowed him to not have to sleep on it and the chance to talk to his players.

Good ole Mark Schlabach never wastes a good opportunity to diss the hogs:

"You can argue that Bret Bielema didn't win enough games as Arkansas' football coach, but unless a coach has committed NCAA violations or grossly embarrassed the university with his conduct, no one deserves to be fired while walking off the field after the regular-season finale. Yes, Bielema will walk away with millions of dollars in a buyout, but other coaches are going to think long and hard about the direction of Arkansas' athletics department before taking the job."

Riiiight. If you don't want to win, certainly don't come here. All that other stuff is important but the bottom line is we, like every other school, wants a winning coach. Fuck you, Mark.

Zero point zero chance she is leading this coaching search.
