Teams are more quick now to pull the trigger on bad big contracts and baddraft picks.  It also shows  how hard it is to pick college talent that will adapt to the NFL.  No college player has ever played a team as talented across the board as the worst nfl team.  Bama does not play 22 potential nfl starters, and a star player doesn’t face top talent every week.  A lot of players can’t make the jump in complexity, speed, power, and do the work to succeed.

Paxton Lynch waived, supposedly a lazyass who couldn’t grasp the playbook and was to lazy to work.  I hope jerry stays away.

I hope the Steelers current RBs just plow up a shitpile of yards in his absence.

Why do the Steelers never pay players? Also don’t they almost always come out ahead in not caving in?

Question? Answer.

Been this way my whole life.  Growing up, you’d lose Kevin Greene one offseason, Greg Lloyd the next, Rod Woodson the next.

They draft well, and don’t overpay.  It’s why Pittsburgh is the most consistent and successful franchise of the SB era.

I would say they do pay players.  Bell is going to make $14.5 million this season.  That's a lot for a RB, even one as good as he is, and he wants about a $5m increase.  He is 26 and wants a longterm deal.  The stats are pretty clear that he will begin declining early in that contract.  So the Steelers are going to play him smart and use him up, which is why he's probably holding out to week 10.  Lowers his mileage for the next team.

Few RBs go from great  success on one team to replicate it on another.  DeMarco Murray last big example...left Dallas for Philly and did squat there or in Tennessee and retired.  27 is becoming the new 30.

They’re franchise tagging him every year. Pay him close to what he’s worth, but don’t over-extend.

The organization doesn’t fuck around.

Right.  He wants a multi year deal at a $20m Avg.  how many more years can they tag him?

Guess his teammates really stumped for him.

That's embarrassing.  Looks like Josh Duggar when his parents asked him to babysit.

that's awesome, I hope he kicks ass.  if he had two hands he'd have gone in the first two rounds.

I’d imagine this is the last.  Ben will hopefully retire, and there will be some roster turnover, and our half-decadely 7-9/8-8 year.

Yeah this way he’s only getting paid for one arm instead of two essentially.

It would be cool if they let him use a prosthetic hand. A hook would look bad ass, but a dip net might be more functional

After the way his teammates talked about him. It's hard to see him playing at all this year.

Matt Ryan and Nick Foles both looked like hot garbage last night.
Foles still made a few plays, but Ryan looks awful and can't make all the throws any more.

Apparently Andrew Luck admits to snowboarding shoulder injury from 2015-16 offseason and it was separate from his torn labrum. Wonder if anything was in his contract about non football injuries. Surely there was
