Good move by Greenwood to annex Reno.  Definitely enlarged the tax base.

They live in Reno.  Both graduated from Greenwood though.  Connor lived with his grandparents in HS.

I see his dad owns some kind of mining exploration company.  Nice.

Damn that HY making a hire on a Sunday! Now Keebler and ADG staff will actually have to prepare word salads for Monday’s paper!  They already had all the AP stories/pages laid out! #Sad

It's a weird feeling, isn't it?

We had a coach whom everyone loved, but who wasn't really performing, and we let him go with almost no controversy.

AD Yurachek conducted a quiet search for several days, and nobody knew anything, and there were no leaks.  Maybe he talked to some other coaches, but maybe not.

Then, we just hired probably the best candidate who was actually available to us, with no controversy and no leaks, on a Sunday afternoon.  And everyone knows he actually is our best option.

This was probably the least "Arkansas" coaching hire of my entire life.

Chaney and Sills missing from team meeting?  Can anyone confirm?

Would be bad to lose those two.

They were there.

If you’re making a list Eric Musselman should be near the top or at the top of it. - Me

That's perfect.

Yeah that is funny but it’s convertible to a long term lease based on performance.

Yup, guess 3pm was too early for deadline.

Again, they wonder why newspapers are dying.

LAZY, biggest story in the state and there are more articles about Texas Tech basketball in ARKANSAS’ largest “newspaper”. Who TF is the Sports Editor? They ought....oh, that explains a lot. Still butthurt HY didn’t call the FIRED woman’s Bkb coach (ran program into ground) cause he works at ESPN.

Personally, I liked the idea of hiring Musselman more than I did hiring Kelvin Sampson.

Sorry if these have been posted.  I'm catching up.

QUOTES

According to former NBA coach Jeff Van Gundy, Musselman is "as competitive of a guy as I've ever coached against. He's a brilliant offensive mind."

According to University of Kentucky head coach John Calipari, "Eric is one of the best in our sport. Extremely driven and knowledgeable. I've watched and coached against him in the NBA and FIBA games. He has an uncanny feel for the game, and ability to read where the game is at. More importantly, is his ability to motivate and teach his players what it takes to improve and win. He is as good as it gets."

Good stuff from NY Knicks head coach David Fizdale on Mighty Muss: “He is a basketball genius. Offensively, I don’t think I’ve ever been around somebody that is so innovative, understands how to attackmatch ups, understands how to teach teams to run.”

Personally, I liked the idea of hiring Musselman more than I did hiring Kelvin Sampson.

Yeah me as well.

I'm not necessarily drinking the cool-aid on the guy but I do think we hired about as well as we could expect. There just aren't a lot of names out there that we were going to jump on or at least names that we wanted. A slightly less successful Beard...maybe we pull him away. Marshall could be waiting on a Kansas or elsewhere type job to open up. I'm happy we didn't hire him. Sampson demanding the CIW tells me all I need to know about where his mind is at. Dude is getting ready to hang it up in a few years. We don't need that.

The other name was Richard Pitino...I would have been ok with it. Not thrilled. He's a coach that seems to be holding par at Minnesota. Maybe his best is still to come or maybe he's a 20 to 22 win coach. Minnesota has been a place that has had some success under prior staffs. My belief is he was probably the next option.

Steve Forbes may have been the option after Pitino. Fans wouldn't have been pleased with that hire. I don't profess to know much about him other than what I've read on him from the internet. Seems like a very likable guy that's got a good background. I liken him to a Buzz Williams sort. I won't be shocked if Tennessee grabs him if Barnes moves on to UCLA.
