Assuming the paying players legislation passes, realistically, how many players per average Power5 school will be able to make much money from this?

If this was a law in 2000, what Hogs would have made decent money since then?

Football
  • McFadden
  • Jones
  • Hillis
  • Tyler Wilson
  • Matt Jones
  • Monk

Basketball

  • Joe Johnson
  • Portis

I don't think there are many, if any, from the other sports.  Maybe a couple from baseball. I'm sure I've missed some as these names were just off the top of my head, but I think the players think this is a huge power play and, when it passes, they will be disappointed in what they receive.

This did not age well. I guess it's all anecdotal (since I have not seen a comprehensive analysis, or anyone's bank account), but my impression is that money is flowing to all manner of college athletes, not just marketable stars.

Exactly. That looks like the high school kid who borrows his dad's coat for the homecoming dance.

They should have dressed him in some suit from the set of USED CARS but no seriously guys. I love that the kid doesn't know how to dress himself and is only concerned with murdering people on the football and field and aint got time to sell insurance.

Think about all those schools that got in trouble over the years for a booster loaning a player a vehicle.

Now, it’s something you can publicly advertise.

Stuck with Shreveport television stations in Texarkana, we are forced to see countless numbers of ads from Louisiana plaintiff's lawyers.  If you think there are a lot of such ads on LR stations, well, double it, and you might be getting close to Shreveport.

Some of those lawyers are now signing NIL deals with LSU football players.   Some of them are showing up on tv and print ads.  Actually kind of sickening to me.

Damn Bobby Petrino!!!  What the Hell was he thinking?

There are more billboards for personal injury attorneys in the city limits of Monroe and West Monroe than there are in the states of Arkansas and Oklahoma combined.  Don't get to Shreveport all that often, but I'm sure it's much the same.

The entire state of Louisiana is very much this way and I've never understood it, why it's so much different than Arkansas in that regard.

Workmen's comp rates are 4-5 times what they are in Arkansas.  Auto insurance rates are much higher as well.

Not a coincidence.
