There's a preliminary injunction hearing two days later to determine whether the new USFL can use that name, and the old team names, or whether those properties are still owned by the prior USFL owners. It's possible that the league and teams would be enjoined from using those names after the opening weekend of the season.

The regular season is played at Legion Field and Protective Stadium. The top 4 teams (2 from each division) will play the Semis and Championship in Canton, OH

Still, I don’t think you can expect a lot of fans around Birmingham to show up for four games every weekend, especially when only one team is supposedly a “Birmingham” team. It’s not like very many people, if any, are going to travel from far off to Birmingham to see “their” team play.

I'm a football junkie and I have almost no interest in this league. I guess I could understand the pod style concept if the league traveled to a new city each week to drum up interest the first few years akin to what the Big 3 is doing during the summer with 3 on 3 basketball. Team names should have been nicknames and maybe team sponsors without geographical descriptors.

Traveling teams would have been a huge expenditure I'm sure much more so than traveling some basketball players.

The arena concept just died out but for a while it was fairly successful. They had butts in seats, John Elway managed to parlay it into a failed NFL exec career, it also produced at least one HOF quarterback. Not bad for a shitbird league.

I enjoyed watching Clint Stoerner playing for the Dallas Desperados and the Dallas Desperado Dancers.
