Amen.

Said this last year too, but Slavens has a lot of empty calories in his stats that come from midweek games.

Granted, he hit an insurance homer against LSU on Saturday so maybe he's coming around. But it feels like he has an awful lot of 0-4, 3 strikeout games against SEC competition and then feasts on the weekdays against guys who are basically playing 19U travel ball.

My calculations have him at 9-45 in conference games. That is a smooth .200. I didn't look up RBIs/HRs.

It is why I hate it when the announcers for mid week games talk about players coming out of their slump. No, they are hitting much poorer pitching. They will be coming out of their slump when they start hitting SEC pitching.

He has turned it on the last month or so.  He started out as bad as Webb.

His first 2 conference series he had a BA totaling .000.  The last 3 series, it is .321.  He went from striking out 59% of the time to 21%.

His first 10 non conference games: BA = .233.  The last 10: BA = .422.  SO have gone way down too.

Hopefully he has figured it out.

Announcers last night said Brady was 12 for his last 23 while hitting 2nd.

However, in conference games only during that stretch...2-10 with 1 HR, 3 RBI.  .200 BA/ .400 OBP (2 walks).

A-State is awful, 7-25 after a 2 game win streak vs LR and a win over UCA.  2-12 in conference. yikes.

going to be miserable tonight with this wind and shitty weather.

Game 2. Looks like shitty weather, but not raining yet. McEntire starting for the Hogs.

Toler leads off. Grounds out to BGB. 1 down.

Hager walks. This ump’s strike zone is like having to throw it through a cigarette.

Klutts (who seems pretty coordinated to me) goes down looking at a low ball. 2 away.

Hager (another one) goes down looking.

0-0 mid first.

Bottom of the seventh. Hogs up. This game could have been over except for our bullpen again. New pitcher for ASU.

Wallace flies out to the track in center. 1 down.

Slavens fouls one off his face. Slavens is down. Looks like it hit him in the right eye. He’s up and they are still checking him out. Slavens looks like he will be OK, but Gregory will be in to bat for him.

Gregory with a 2-2 count. Singles to right. 1 on, 1 out.

Lanzilli flies out to right. Runner holds. 2 away.

Moore takes ball 1. Gregory steals second. Flies out to third in foul territory.

Hogs lead 10-3 after 7.

It is why I hate it when the announcers for mid week games talk about players coming out of their slump. No, they are hitting much poorer pitching. They will be coming out of their slump when they start hitting SEC pitching.
On the broadcast last night, Dolan was raving about Slavens and his 9 RBIs last week. Eklund sort of brought him back down to earth when he added the disclaimer that -- while you hope it's a sign of turning a corner -- it was against far weaker pitching than we see on the weekends.
