Slavens lives on this midweek pitching. Hopefully he starts bringing that with him on a weekend sometime.
Amen. Said this last year too, but Slavens has a lot of empty calories in his stats that come from midweek games. Granted, he hit an insurance homer against LSU on Saturday so maybe he's coming around. But it feels like he has an awful lot of 0-4, 3 strikeout games against SEC competition and then feasts on the weekdays against guys who are basically playing 19U travel ball.
My calculations have him at 9-45 in conference games. That is a smooth .200. I didn't look up RBIs/HRs.
It is why I hate it when the announcers for mid week games talk about players coming out of their slump. No, they are hitting much poorer pitching. They will be coming out of their slump when they start hitting SEC pitching.
