Granted, he hit an insurance homer against LSU on Saturday so maybe he's coming around. But it feels like he has an awful lot of 0-4, 3 strikeout games against SEC competition and then feasts on the weekdays against guys who are basically playing 19U travel ball.

My calculations have him at 9-45 in conference games. That is a smooth .200. I didn't look up RBIs/HRs.

It is why I hate it when the announcers for mid week games talk about players coming out of their slump. No, they are hitting much poorer pitching. They will be coming out of their slump when they start hitting SEC pitching.

He has turned it on the last month or so.  He started out as bad as Webb.

His first 2 conference series he had a BA totaling .000.  The last 3 series, it is .321.  He went from striking out 59% of the time to 21%.

His first 10 non conference games: BA = .233.  The last 10: BA = .422.  SO have gone way down too. 

Hopefully he has figured it out.

On the broadcast last night, Dolan was raving about Slavens and his 9 RBIs last week. Eklund sort of brought him back down to earth when he added the disclaimer that -- while you hope it's a sign of turning a corner -- it was against far weaker pitching than we see on the weekends.
