Hanging to me means it was in the middle of the plate. He didn’t hang the pitch. It was low and the batter went to the ground and hit it out. It wasn’t a terrible pitch and a great swing.

I may get slammed for this, but we are not a great team. We are pretty good defensively, but offensively….no. Every one of our hitters go up trying to hit it out of the park instead of just making contact. Sometimes, they get lucky and may hit a single, double, or HR. But those are few and far between. And it seems we can’t string a few together at once. Noland didn’t have it last night. I actually thought Ramage did a decent job with the batters he faced. I predict we will not make it out of the regionals. We just don’t have what it takes.

I knew things were bad when I visited my parents on Mothers Day and dad had the softball game on instead of the baseball game.

We’re over-ranked this year because of two things:
- what we did last year and what we returned
- our record, which is fool’s gold considering the fact that the SEC is down this year.

LSU and Florida aren’t what they’ve traditionally been, and Ole Miss and MSU are way down. Those were supposed to be 4 top 10 matchups heading into this season, yet 3 of them were unbanked when we played and LSU was barely ranked.

The big concern I have that doesn’t bode well for us is the fact that every game seems to be close, regardless of opponent. For the most part this season and especially over the last month we’ve not been jumping out on opponents and playing ahead with any semblance of comfort, hence Tygart continuing to be stretched for 2+ inning relief appearances even where we’re tied. We saw the same shit with Kopps last season where we’d have to bring him in when it was knotted up in the 7th and pray we could do something, anything, on offense. Kopps having to go longer and longer last year showed that DVH had lost faith in the offense, and that seems to be the case down the stretch this year yet again.

The announcers were talking last night about how Slavens was a good bad pitch hitter. And I was thinking to myself, that is because he swings at bad pitches. I think our rank and hoopla are just connected to our potential. And right now, our potential isn’t very good.
