It seems like this team is actually starting to get some respect internationally compared previous US teams. It’s clear that our young guys have potential and chemistry. If we can upgrade at a few key positions (mostly a Striker) we could really have something impressive over the next 8 years.

Musuh, Adams, and McKinnie are the three best mids we’ve ever had playing together.  And they are in their early 20s.  Definitely need a 9 but other pieces are there for sustained success.

Who was the black guy that booted it out of bounds in the second half (maybe 10 min before stoppage time) when there wasn't a soul around him for about 20 yds and on Iran's side of the pitch? I don't follow soccer much, but our seemingly staunch refusal to secure a possession late was maddening. It was like we were perfectly content to just to play defense the last 20 min or so. I mean I get not pressing and opening yourself up to a counterattack that would result in a back breaking equalizer, but shit on a biscuit we acted like we didn't even want the ball when it was gifted to us multiple times.

If the current scores hold in Group C (Argentina leads Poland 2-0 and Mexico leads Saudi Arabia 2-0), Poland and Mexico would have to go to the 7th tiebreaker to determine who advances.

That tiebreaker is fair play, which would see Poland advance and Mexico eliminated based on Mexico having more yellow cards so far in the tournament.

It’s good for a few more reasons also. For starters they’ve been very reluctant to acknowledge that the US is a peer of theirs in the soccer world. Things like this make them look even more foolish when the topic is brought up. The other and more important reason is that the US and Mexico are finding themselves competing for dual nationals quite a bit. The US being the superior program could potentially help us move the better players to our side.
