Title: NCAA conf championship week football
Post by: hogggdadi on December 01, 2011, 09:10:12 PM
WVA is trying to give this away to skip holtz' boys from USF.

Dana Holgerson looks like bobcat golthwait.  I can see him screaming at the presses afterwards.

WVa up 13-10 in the 3rd.

Good grief these teams ain't that good.  Just think, due to the conference limits, WV could sneak into a BCS bowl with a win tonight.  It's not UCONN bad but still, it's pretty terrible.

This conference has a lot of chaos around it with the champ.  If Cincy loses, Louisville goes.  (head to head vs WV)  If Cincy wins, Louisville goes (3 way tie, highest BCS is champ).  Its like our scenario before the LSU game, except without all of the talent, drama & media hype.  WVA would be a better rep for the big least tho, since they are 9-3.

slive forgot to tell them that they should frick LSU whenever they get the chance.  All of the SEC teams should be rooting for UGA, cause then it's 52 bills to be distributed equally to the conference from the BCS.  Add in the other bowls, & the SEC would be pushing 75mil.  Get that memo out slive!!

What are the odds we see Jarret Lee?

As a Georgia Tech man, you're really screwed.  You can't root against both teams today, OR in the BCSMNC game.  UGA, LSU, UAT.  That's rough.     :hollah:

51-7 to Texas A&M in 1997

Prior to the 1990s, their worst loss had been 59-21 to Kansas State in 1969.

Plus, as bad as our record is against Texas, OSU came into this game with a record of 17-81-7 against OU.

Meanwhile, the Big 10 Championship has been a helluva game.

Gus Johnson blowing up!

He just let out a Howard Dean-esque shriek on that long pass by Wisconsin.

Gus Johnson is on top of his game tonight too.

I'm thinking there's no downside to a Gus Johnson called game. The man is vastly underrated by the more sports centered networks.

EDIT: I take that back. The only down side to Gus is that he belongs in collegiate broadcasts. I don't see him bringing the same energy to his pro games, but man he really amplifies the collegiate excitement.

Crap, now I'm almost hoping for the Cotton bowl so we can get in on this OU gang bang.

OU ain't going to the Cotton Bowl, K-State and Baylor are in front of them.  They are more than likely headed to the Alamo Bowl.  We're most likely going to get K-State...meh

What an effort by Martin to get his foot even remotely inbounds!  And the call was better than that!!!

He did everything humanly possible to stay in, including keeping his right foot off the ground as long as he could.  He looked like a ballet dancer --- NTTAWWT.

Game over.

Why do you even get anywhere close to the punter in that situation?

Horseshit call there.  He fell down on his own.  I hate that fricking call where the punter is just acting.

Dumb play by Michigan State there.  Shouldn't have been even anywhere close to the punter.  Can't put it in the officials' hands like that.

I think more than ever Cap One takes us now.  They will want to claim, rightfully, that they have the third best SEC team.  Hope I'm wrong.  We'll know around 8:15 tomorrow.  Damn, what a game.

MSU should've had return on all the way on that punt.  They were going to get good field position with plenty of time left and didn't need to get anywhere near Wisconsin's punter.

What's really disappointing is that it ruined what would've been an epic call by Gus on that return.

Do you know what is also shameful about the BCS?  TCU, which was 18, and not even close to 17 going into this weekend, will probably get a BCS bowl if they sneak down to 16, while we will get nada and will most probably be #5.

We were 8th, barely behind 7th place BSU.  BSU played a horrible team that will drag down their computer numbers, one of the teams they beat got beat and one of our losses hammered the team that they beat.  I figure we will move ahead of them in the computers by even more, so probably 5th with VT and Houston losing ahead of us.

Not a bad year going into the bowl season #5 in the BCS after being something like #6 last year.

Revisionist history at its finest: The Big 12 is tweeting tonight about the fact that Bama didn't beat any top 10 teams this year while OSU beat 2 of them.  I guess the fact that A&M and OU were the two teams they beat and they finished 4th and 7th in the conference don't count for anything.  Idiots.

Okay, I'm on board.  I want a Bama-LSU rematch too.  Especially since I hope Bama kicks the living crap out of them and Mathieu tests positive for synthetic coke between now and then.

I under stand UGA fans being pissed, but does anyone outside Athens doubt that LSU could and would have scored from the 1 yard line?

would have been a touchback.  GA ball at the 20 I believe.

Seems like it's as much on the ref, as it is on the HB. HB only began to toss the ball to the ref when the ref started motioning touchdown.

Is that anything like a ref throwing a flag when he sees a man on the ground without actually seeing how he got there?

It was technically a "fumble" out the back of the end zone so yes, it would have been Georgia's ball at the 20.  Could Georgia have challenged the play?

I think the ball, from looking at the trajectory in that picture, was heading out of bounds short of the end zone.  Thus, it would have been LSU ball inside the 1.

Now, yes, had it been fumbled into the end zone and gone out of bounds, then it would've been Georgia's ball.  Yes, I believe Georgia could've challenged that play, if anything since it was a scoring play.

THe 10 blocks in the back on that one return would have probably been a little miffing as well, then for him to not even get into the endzone with the ball might have been even mroe miffing, if I was a GA fan that is.

And two of those were just outrageous decleaters.  Plus another one which was kind of questionable but was clearly a crown-of-the-helmet shot to the head (earhole) and the GA player stayed down.

The refs are getting caught up watching the Honey Badger.

When you watch the full replay, you'll see the ball hit the official's right hand, which would indicate that it would have gone out in the end zone and therefore been Georgia's ball.  Not arguing, just pointing that out.

As far as the people who say "So, take way those two punt returns, and LSU still wins 28-10," they are missing the bigger picture.  That was a HUGE momentum swing in the game.  LSU had done next to nothing by that point and without that play to pump them up nobody knows what would have happened.  Sure, LSU probably would have still won, simply because they're a lot better team than Georgia, but if Georgia goes in at the half up 10-0 or 13-0 and Miles comes out in the second half and puts Jarrett Lee in and he throws a couple of picks, who knows?  The point is the game should be called consistently - rules are rules - and SEC officials are the country's worst at doing this.  The marquee teams in the league get preferential treatment by the officials and it's obvious.  Anybody who doesn't believe this isn't looking very closely.
