Title: Dish Network - DirecTV and other options...
Post by: Rick B. on September 18, 2019, 01:27:48 PM
Okay Smart Woopig Peeps...I have a cabin in the woods.  For the last several years, I've had Dish Network.  I turn it on in mid to late September so I can watch games when we're down at the cabin hunting.  It used to be $50 a month for the sports package.  Now, it's almost $100 and that's too frickin expensive for MAYBE 6 days of use over the span of October to December.

Are there any other solutions to getting TV at my cabin for select games?  For instance, we'll be down there for the opening of deer archery season on Sept 27th through 29th and would want to subject ourselves to the Hogs vs. Aggies game at 11 AM.   We have electricity there (obviously) but only through a generator.  We have a very very weak cell signal so getting it on say WatchESPN wouldn't work well at all really.   Is there any type of a la carte way to get ONLY the channels you need?

I'll hang up and listen.

1) dump cocks and get dish or dtv at home and you can just take your box to the cabin
b) borrow a spare dish box from someone with an active subscription to take

No way I dump Cox Cable.  I freakin love it.

That second part isn't a bad idea if I could find someone.

So basically, neither of your solutions work for me.   So keep working.

Find a neighbor down there and ask if you can watch the game at his house.  Or get the wifeypoo to set up her phone camera to watch the game and facetime it to you, kinda like watching a pirated movie on a DVD you bought at a flea market..  Or since youre out in bejeebus, listen on this thing called a radio.  It allows you to imagine we're not as shitty as we might appear on TV.

Wifeypoo will be at the cabin with me.  Otherwise, thanks for the complete lack of a solution help.

Then play with your wife and skip the game.  Its part of the charm of rural Arkansas.  You can get off the grid.  Breathe fresh air.  Listen to game on the radio like we did back when we were only on TV twice a year.  You can even imagine the game in black and white.
