That's like saying 7-11 has Big Gulps.

I'm perplexed by the negative feedback. I just don't get it. What's wrong with you?

He was at Signature Bank in Fayetteville the other day trying to find someone to help start his car. He needed help not because his battery died or something like that, but because he had a breathalyzer in his car from a previous DWI and he was drunk.

I sure enjoyed watching Ron play ball back in the day.  He was always pretty cool to hang around with back then as well.  That said, he's had more second chances than any ten fuckups you can name and has blown every one.  He's a useless piece of aMm.

His problem is 6'7" black dudes kinda stick out in Fayetteville. If he was a 5'7" Mexican he could sail right under the radar.

He's just visiting his time share in South Fayetteville, must have got bored at his condo at 201 Popular in Memphis.

Trouble with recruiting Memphis is that they decide to stay here when the UofA is done with them. It should be state law that they go back home.

If they go back home, they'll get shot.

The last shooting in Fayetteville was Nolan's horse.
The last shooting in Memphis was right now.

Looks like Ron was having some woman problems:

Former Hog Huery charged in break-in at ex-girlfriend’s

FAYETTEVILLE — Former Razorback basketball player Ron Huery was arrested Monday on charges that include burglary, police said.

Huery, 40, of 2471 Brophy Circle in Fayetteville faces felony counts of residential burglary, first-degree criminal mischief and third-degree domestic battery.

A former girlfriend of Huery’s contacted police Monday night to report that he was trying to break down the door to her residence. Officers saw Huery breaking the front windows of the house before getting into his Chevrolet Suburban and with it ramming a green Nissan pickup parked in the driveway, a police report shows. Huery ignored officers ’ commands to stop, the report said.

Huery was immobilized with a Taser after refusing to get out of his vehicle, the report said.

The ex-girlfriend told police he was upset with her because she broke up with him for hitting her and beating her with a belt earlier that day. She said he returned to her house that night to pick up his phone and after an argument he stole her camera, vandalized the residence and threatened her.

Huery played for the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville basketball team from 1987 to 1991, including the Final Four team in 1990.

The incident Monday was the latest in a list of encounters Huery has had with police. In March, he was arrested on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, seconddegree false imprisonment and fleeing. He was also arrested in July 2005 on similar charges. In 2006, he served a year in prison after pleading guilty to fleeing from police officers.

Just really sad what happens to some people. This cat could have probably made a healthy living on being "Ron Huery" but he evidently choose to go out of state and turned into a real thug. Moving back to Arkansas is an act of desperation by most of these guys to reach out to any opportunity there name brings.

I've always been under the impression that Arkansas took care of their former athletes even many of the lesser known or remembered ones. By that I mean they finish school and somebody (friend of the program) hooks them up with a job. If they stay here and keep their nose clean they'll have a job...they go off somewhere else and try to make it on their own there way...a lot of them end up like Huery and Beck.

Beck is the one that's really surprising...such a leader on the court. The guy could have been a very successful person in the real world...I guess the life in the NBA for those few years messed him up for good. I know his childsupport was based on his NBA salary and that stuff is hard to change once it gets going...his big problem was not paying it to start with.
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale

I hung out with Ron some back in the day, and found him to be a genuinely good guy.  Very friendly, and always smiling.  It's a damn shame to see what he's become.  Way he's acting, I figure he's gotten into the meth.

Sure hate to see this.  He's got to be getting up to habitual offender status at this point.

Definitely back in the day.  If Ron Huery bangs your girlfriend recently, that is not cool.

I give Charles Thomas 3 years before we see him show up on the Washing County Sheriff's arrest report.

Yep.  A good-hearted guy with a lot of demons and a weak will.  He looks a little too thick in the face to be on meth though.  Pain pills maybe?

Is there a penal league basketball team?  Washington Co. really ought to think about putting one together.  Elmer Martin, Ron Huery, Charles Thomas, who am I leaving out?  Do we have a starting 5 yet?
