The sudden de-commitment of a UA recruit last October may make a bit more sense after reading this. It seems, according to a report in the Kansas City Star, that Colonel Reb’s staff told a high-profile quarterback recruit that they did not expect to be with the Razorbacks in 2008.

Soon after, the recruit, Kale Pick, de-committed from the Hogs and verbally pledged to Kansas. Pick is redshirting at the KU this season.

.....

Last fall, when Pick was still committed to the Razorbacks, he would come to KU to visit friends. The Jayhawks were undefeated, lighting up the scoreboard, and he’d hear from those same fans who now stop him around town.

“The KU fans would give me a hard time,” Pick said, “saying they were undefeated and that I needed to come here.”

In late October, Colonel Reb’s staff indicated to Pick that they didn’t expect to be at Arkansas after last season. On Oct. 22, with KU 7-0 and moving up the polls, Pick decommitted from Arkansas and immediately gave his pledge to the Jayhawks.

It's suprising in that he was actually telling recruits he wasn't going to be around. As opposed to just not giving a aMm and stopped recruiting.

But if this isn't proof he tried to sabotage the program, I don't know what is.

Lawsuits have been filed for much less than what Colonel Reb was doing, which was actively sabotaging recruiting for the University of Arkansas. Even if the case is dismissed or peters out later, as long as it's in the national spotlight it would expose Col. 2012 and his posse for the collection of scumbags they are.

Was he getting a paycheck from the U of A at this time? Is one of his job duties recruiting ath-uh-letes for the football program? I guess there might be a loophole that says he doesn't have to give a aMm about trying, but there's some ethical problems with that.

Something tells me Pick would've likely been a wasted scholarship anyhow, at best a good hander-offer. I wasn't thrilled when we landed his commitment anyhow. Any QB stupid enough to accept a scholarship offer from Colonel Reb probably couldn't gain eligibility anyhow, or they don't have the motivation and desire to succeed and become all they can be at the position.

He lied plenty when it suited his purpose, and told the truth one year, also when it suited his purpose.

Colonel Reb's Purpose >>>>>>>>>>Anything else he can think of.   Yep.

(And this isn't about Pick...who wants a QB named pick, anyway?)

Just because a QB commits to Coach for Life doesn't automatically make him stupid...maybe he just really likes weed.

It doesn't matter if Pick or any of the other recruits that Colonel Reb discouraged from coming to Arkansas were any good or not. Colonel Reb was actively running off players and recruits or failing to recruit while texting Donna Bragg thousands of times, stealing recruiting tapes, etc., etc. That's got to be some major violation of his contract, for which he was paid millions of dollars.

I can't help but think this was a plan hatched by Jimmy Sexton. I don't think Colonel Reb would be smart enough to come up with it on his own. Basically, the plan is to make Arkansas look as bad as possible after Colonel Reb skips town, giving Stepford fans the impression that Colonel Reb was such a good coach that the house of cards collapsed when he left, when in reality, Colonel Reb sabotaged the program. Find another program with some talent (Ole Miss) to pawn Colonel Reb off on and keep the Colonel Reb Posse employed for a few years until that house of cards collapses because of lousy recruiting and player development, and then peddle the Rt. Reverend  Colonel Reb & Co. to some other unsuspecting program for millions of dollars per year.

Colonel Reb was definitely full of empty promises and would get kids to come to Fayetteville just for the sake of getting them there.  No development whatsoever.

Take, for instance, QB Ryan Sorahan.  He was the #2 rated QB coming out of high school (behind Ken Dorsey) in California.  After transferring from Cal to San Jose St. because of coaching issues, he later went to Foothills Community College and set all kinds of JUCO passing records.

He gets recruited by Arkansas and LSU, but chooses Arkansas b/c Colonel Reb tells him if the comes to Fayetteville, he will start immediately.  Well, he does start not long after arriving to campus, and due to lack of coaching and the fact we handed the ball of 90% of the time, he looks terrible when it came time to throw on 3rd and long.

What I am getting at here is that this is just one example of Colonel Reb luring top talent to his team, only to aMm it away.  I'll say it before and I'll say it again...I'm so glad that sonofabitch is out of here and ruining someone else's program now.
