The Louisiana woman, arrested and accused of attempting to assume the identity of an Ozark girl who disappeared in 1995, settled on the girl’s name at random, according to court documents.

Tonya Smith, 24, of Elmer, La., pleaded innocent to felony computer fraud in Pulaski County District Court on Thursday, nearly a week after she was arrested by Arkansas State Police on allegations that she tried to get a copy of Morgan Nick’s birth certificate.

After her arrest by police in Branson and Arkansas State Police officers, she told investigators that she met a “male associate” in Alexandria, La., for “help in securing for her a new identity” and that her associate presented her with a list of possible names.

From the list, she settled on Morgan Chauntel Nick, whose kidnapping from an Alma baseball park on June 9, 1995, drew national media attention. Detectives with the Alma Police Department and the state police routinely still get tips on the 1995 case.

According to arrest affidavits, Smith requested a copy of Nick’s birth certificate on June 23 through the Arkansas Health Department’s Vitalchek, an online service that processes requests for legal documents.

The request raised red flags for Health Department officials, who said that when any request is made for documents on someone who is reported missing, the department immediately contacts state police about it.

Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said initially investigators weren’t sure whether the request was made by someone believing she was Nick or by someone possibly involved in her abduction.

Earlier this week, Sadler said detectives didn’t suspect that Smith had any such involvement in Nick’s disappearance and that it was clear that Smith was interested in using Nick’s name as a new identity.

Investigators said Smith paid a $12 fee to file the request and asked that the birth certificate be sent to an address in Alexandria.

Sometime later, the Health Department took a call from someone identifying herself as Morgan Chauntel Nick, who asked that the documents be forwarded to a post office box in Hollister, Mo., which was traced back to Smith, affidavits said.

Smith had been living in a motel with her boyfriend from late June through July 28, when they were evicted, according to police. Officers tracked down the couple at a nearby motel where the two were detained on Aug. 3.

Police said Smith told detectives that she knew she had violated the terms of her five-year probation sentence by leaving Louisiana, where she had been found guilty of multiple financial and fraud crimes.

She was transported and booked into the Pulaski County jail on Tuesday. After entering her
innocent plea Thursday morning, her bail was reduced from $200,000 to $15,000. She remained in jail as of Thursday evening.

Apparently this guy is on the loose in Saline County and wanted for several felonies. It seems his mugshot was taken by a college freshman who just got their Mac and discovered Photobooth.

A call about a domestic disturbance just after 7 a.m. on Sunday at the 2400 block of Wilmington Road resulted in the arrest of a 28-year-old Little Rock woman for public intoxication.

Upon arrival, police found the woman squatting and urinating outside of the residence. According to the report, when she finished, she approached the officer “crying and cursing,” with a strong odor of intoxicants about her person.

The report says when the woman finally calmed down, she told police her name and explained that she and her boyfriend had been up all night “doing coke,” drinking and watching pornographic movies. The woman said she became tired and didn’t want to try a sexual position that her boyfriend had suggested, resulting in the pair becoming involved in a heated argument.

No doubt, but there was a tremendous list of hypocritical douchebags (including the two you mention) who clucked their tongues over Clinton's philandering though they were guilty of the same.

Brandon Runion from Benton was arrested near Mount St. Mary today after exposing himself to one of their students.  Apparently, he's been running around Hillcrest the last few months masturbating in public.

A man has been stalking school girls in Hillcrest and other neighborhoods for at least 4 months. He was known to wear a black hood and mask and ambush young girls in alleyways etc. with his aggressive spectacle of masturbation.

Along with "Hikers found the grisly remains" and "Neighbors complained of an overpowering smell prior to the discovery of the body," I think "aggressive spectacle of masturbation" is high on the list of phrases you don't want to see in a news story about yourself.

Police hold man in theft from bra

A Little Rock man was arrested Saturday afternoon after he struck a woman in the face and stole money from her bra, reports state.

On Friday, a woman filed a police report stating she was approached by a man who grabbed her by the shirt, “pushed her against a house and struck her in the face with his forearm,” causing a cut to her nose, an arrest report states.

The man then grabbed $60 from the woman’s bra.

The report did not state where the robbery occurred.

Shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday, the victim spotted the man who robbed her at the Pic-Pac Liquor store at West 12th and Peyton streets and called police.

Officers arrived and arrested the man, identified as Albert Brown, 46, of 1325 Monroe St. He was charged with one count of robbery, the report states.

Brown was being held Saturday night at the Pulaski County jail in lieu of $15,000 bond.

She should have kept her money in her granny drawers. She could have at least got a little feel up before she was robbed.

I imagine if the LRPD were to just make random sweeps of the Pic Pac and its parking lot, they'd be able to cut down on their list of fugitives pretty quickly.

Anytime somebody is robbed, that's one of the first places the cops should take them to look for the suspect.

This guy was apparently pretty proud of what he's working with.

A Little Rock man was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after an officer noticed he was wearing a pair of “very short” shorts, police reports said.

According to reports, officers bumped into Carl Lincoln, 49, at 1401 S. Main St. around noon Wednesday and noticed the shorts.

Reports said Lincoln’s shorts were so short that they were “showing [the] private part of his body.”

When the officer asked Lincoln to put on some pants that he had in his backpack, he became “upset” and started cursing the officer loudly, reports state. Lincoln then was arrested and charged.

He was being held Thursday night in the Pulaski County jail in lieu of $200 bond.

Meet Pierre Jones of Jacksonville who, in typical Jacksonville fashion, did something incredibly stupid.

LITTLE ROCK — A Jacksonville man told his fiancee and police that he was carjacked Saturday.

On Monday, he was arrested, accused of lying to police, and he remained in the Pulaski County jail Wednesday night in lieu of $2,500 bond.

Pierre Jones, 37, of 3000 John Harden Drive was charged with felony filing a false police report Monday.

He told police that he was supposed to pick up his fiancee when she got off work Saturday afternoon. Instead, “he lost track of time” while driving around North Little Rock in her car and “engaging in sexual activities,” police said.

To get out of a jam, he made up a story about getting carjacked, investigators said.

Arrest reports said Jones walked to the North Little Rock Police Department about 6:12 p.m. to say he had been robbed of his fiancee’s silver Chevrolet Equinox.

He told police that he had just visited his sister and was driving along Pike Avenue when he heard a “ticking” sound coming from the engine.

He pulled over and opened the hood, and a black man and a black woman walked up and asked him what timeit was, he told police. They then pulled a gun on him, the report said.

Jones told police he left a voice mail for his fiancee, telling her what happened, and instead of calling police to report the crime, he walked to the department’s office at 200 W. Pershing Boulevard to file the report.

Later Monday, police found the vehicle and arrested the three people who were in it. The three denied any involvement in the theft of the car, and one of them told officers that Jones had lent them the car in exchange for “sexual favors.”

When detectives met with Jones again, he reportedly admitted that he was not robbed at gunpoint.

He told detectives that he “conspired the story to cover up his indiscretions.”

Filing a false police report is a Class D felony if it results in the arrest of another person, and is punishable by up to six years in prison.
