HOLY aMm. I love the internet:Click this to hear Maxine:http://www.myspace.com/music/player?sid=25849578&ac=nowThings like this make me feel a little sorry for those who were not blessed enough to spend their college years on the Hill. I don't think you ever really "get" Fayetteville and U of A 100% unless you were young and dumb and there for it.
The full saying is:"Excuse me, may I have your attention please? (pause) You have ten minutes to drink up, and get the Starkville outta here."RIP Maxine.
I always used to enjoy it when she'd turn off the air and the smoke would get so thick you couldn't see across the room.
Not to derail a good wake for Maxine, God rest her soul, but I hope this last part here was just you gettin' a lil' carried away after a good bong rip. There are many generations represented here, 4 of mine, that have supported the U of A and never once attended a class there. That doesn't mean none of them 'get' the U of A, whateverthefuck that means.
No, I didn't mean to be a dick or exclude anybody with that comment. Probably should have said it differently, or not. You can't spend your young and stupid years raising Starkville in a place without having a certain nostalgic visceral connection to that place. I think that's easy enough to understand.
You're kidding? For those of us who don't smoke, that was the terror, lol. I could go into Maxines, drink just one pitcher, and then have a MASSIVE hangover the next day from the nicotine ingested, alone.
Maxine Miller. Her birthday was May 5th. She was the greatest. My absolute favorite place in Fayetteville. I can still see her glass coffee mug, a pack of Parliments, and a pack of Salem menthols there on the bar with her taking a nap with a lit cigarette that singes a few hairs. Then she'd wake up, look over, and say, "Baby, you ready to get your ass kicked in dominoes again?"She never drank. Ever. She had coffee with 1/2 sweetner in her mug. I've seen her slam down her club on the bar and scare the toughest of the tough and run them out of her tavern. She was the salt of the earth and there will never be another one like her. And that meme is wrong. It's missing the word 'up'.
my new wife
I guess I've been living under a freaking rock. Had no idea. On the bright side, at least it's not warts or the herpes
Life's Too Short.
Ya'll ever tried to suck a dick for 20 minutes? It isn't easy.
