Just because we play in the SEC West is no reason to duck decent teams from other conferences as opposed to scheduling the Troys and Jacksonville States of the world. LSU and Bama don't duck real opponents - why should we be scared to play a real team? Since Bama is going to be our first game for the foreseeable future, it would be nice to know what we have before we play them. If we play a good team and lose and then play Bama and win and put ourselves in legitimate position to win the West, aren't we better off? It has been statistically proven that a one-loss team can make the NC game. If we lose to a Ohio State or Oklahoma State or Oregon or whoever - I don't really care who it is - and then run the table in the SEC, I like our chances.
...the smartest Mr. Golden Parachute brother.
I think we're all in agreement that I should be in charge of our non-conference schedule.
I am not claiming I am right, I am saying I don't get it.
Both teams played one FCS, one SunBelt, one from another aMm conference, and one FBS "name" opponent. To our credit at least our FBS foe was projected as a top ten team this year, while Alabama's was supposed to be around .500. It's not our fault that A&M aMm the bed in half their games.
The timing is the main issue. We don't play anyone of substance before hitting conference play. Regardless of whether A&M greatly underachieved this year, we had no idea how good - or bad - we were before playing one of the two best teams in the nation. I realize you're not always going to get a quality opponent when you want it, but it would be nice to see us try to do so again. Shoot, I'd take a home-and-home against Boise if for no other reason than to shut them up.The two previous years we at least played Georgia before playing Bama. But you have to go back to 2006 and USC to find a true quality non-conference opponent before the conference slate started.
One of my kids just tweeted Long about how (i) we still have a non-conference slot to fill and (ii) tejas still owes us a game. It's moments like this you know that all your child rearing efforts weren't wasted.
a festivus miracle
From what I read earlier today, the Big 12 is unsure of its schedule because they're waiting to see how the WVU vs. Big East thing shakes out. It might be hard getting a game with any of those teams right now because of that.
At the brewery we brew a festivus ale every year at this time! nice hoppy winter warmer, similar to sierra nevada celebration ale.
He also said the words "road game" when talking about Little Rock.
Haven't we labeled it a "road" game in the past with some directional school(s)?
I heard clay or Dudley today on Bo's show about the hogs 12th opponent today & they were Talking about the possibility of Nebraska, because they have an open date on 9/22. I found a link to all fbs schedules & looked up a few potential teams. http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/2012-college-football-schedules.phpBo talked about it today with the possibilities that WVA may have to stay in the big east, & the fact that Texass league teams would likely have to pick up an extra non conference game. A lot is yet to be decided in the ACC also according to this site. Clemson, Fl State just to mention a couple have a lot to be decided. Most PAC 12 schedules are set, so I think it's unlikely we could get a west coast matchup. Check it out & discuss while we wait on DGB & our 12th opponent to be named.
That'd defintely add some luster to our OOC schedule; and give Joe Bob and you other 'braska woopiggas an opportunity to talk smack to your co-workers. win/win I wouldn't mind us playing a team the likes of Nebraska out of conference regularly. It's be nice to mix in a good team, with tradition, amidst the cupcakes.
Florida State is the sexiest of all those choices. But Arkansas/Nebraska in JerryWorld just feels right. Let's make it happen.
they are scared shitless of playing us next year.
But Bocephus Penislili said his team was better than SC after the bowl game, why would they be scare't of us?I say bring on the corn huskies, we ain't scared.....
