@billyliucci: Sherman has apparently come off road (no longer making in-house visits). Texas A&M is now in the market for a new head man

darren rovell
Haven't seen Mike Sherman's buyout, but it's reportedly $8M. After Charlie Weis, that would be #2 in college football history.
darren rovell
Buyout money is sweet for agents. Charlie Weis & Mike Sherman have the same agent: Bob Lamonte

Good lord, this guy is the Jimmy Sexton of buyouts.

The coach wasn't canned, but the AD was.

Word up here is the coach will be let go, after the Wyoming game on Saturday. We'll see.

Let's get rid of that dogbone-shaped logo of ours, bring back the old school 'A' with the Hog running through it, and start kicking people's asses again.

Sumlin and Chris Petersen need to cash in after this year if they want to make a move to the big leagues...I don't think their stock will ever be higher considering what they're losing after this season. Paul Chryst will get one of these openings too, possibly Illinois. And I still think Gus would be wise to get out now.

I think Garrick stays one more year, but it doesn't hurt to go through the interview process and get his name circulating.

I really thought Mr. Golden Parachute would end up there.  They can't have a lot of expectations in the coming years and Mr. Golden Parachute could easily deliver that.

Sheesh, he can't even deliver pizza.

Coming into the SEC, the faggies need a coach with SEC experience, and they are in need of help.  There is a former SEC coach with fourteen, FOURTEEN! years of experience currently  unemployed, who has openly stated he would like to help one more school.  HDIII would be in gay heaven.  Talk about taking faggie jokes to a whole new level!

the aggies are going to get a similar introduction to the SEC that we did.

No longer playing Texas schools?  Check.

Coming from a relative second tier conference?  Check.

New head coach?  Check.

It may have proven to be a completely stupid move.  Changing conferences AND coaches, completely revamping a program and learning new schemes all at the same time?  Yeah, they're going to get pummeled their first few seasons (in all likelihood).  If they kept Sherman around for a little longer they may have been middle of the pack coming in.  With Ole Miss being in shambles, aMm being aMm, and Dead Trees flopping around.  Now, they may not beat Ole Miss in their first season.

Garrick McGee and Turner Gill supposedly interviewing for the UAB job today.
Paul Petrino has already been interviewed.
There can't be many worse jobs.

Wasn't there talk of totally doing away with that program?  I agree, that seems risky even to try and use as a stepping stone job.

The conventional wisdom several years ago was that you could turn that program into a pretty good school, if you could just steal a couple of kids from Dead Trees or Alabama every year.

Which, when you think about it, is a lot like saying you could live a pretty good life if you could just steal a couple of cars each year from each dealership in town.

Sherman will not be marching through Atlanta this time.
The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

This program by far the worst job in Alabama little alone anywhere else!!  Its facilities are horrible, they play at Legion Field which is falling apart and oh yea its in the middle of the worst crime area in the U.S.  Fan support is non existent and most alumni refuse to donate or attend any football related functions unless the PTB show that they are serious about making the program at least respectable in the CUSA.

Only thing more stupid would be to change conferences and then fire your head coach after the first game of the season.

Oh, wait . . . umm, nevermind.

Petersen learned a thing or two from Dan Hawkins.

Looks like he's content to remain at Boise State and be thought a football genius than move up to a school in a big-time conference and possibly get exposed.

Hawkins, for instance, went 53-11 in 5 years at Boise while only losing 3 WAC games during that time span, then went 19-39 in 5 years at Colorado.
