if Paul comes back it will kinda make him look bad for other coaching opportunities in the future. Like he couldn't cut it away from his bro maybe?

More likely, it means we'll be looking for another new OC this time next year.

The BCS title we win next year is going to do wonders for Paul Petrino's resume.

I'd be thrilled if we could land John Chavis, but I don't see why he'd leave LSU.

You can have 9 assistant coaches and 2 grad assistants.

Right now, we have...

Paul Petrino - Offensive Coordinator
Willy Robinson - Defensive Coordinator / Secondary
Bobby Allen - Assistant Coach - Defensive Line (Tackles)
Steve Caldwell - Assistant Coach - Defensive Line (Ends)
Kris Cinkovich - Assistant Coach - Wide Receivers
Tim Horton - Assistant Coach - Running Backs/Recruiting Coordinator
Reggie Johnson - Assistant Coach - Inside Linebackers
Chris Klenakis - Assistant Coach - Offensive Line

Leaving:
Garrick McGee - Offensive Coordinator / Quarterback Coach
John L. Smith - Special Teams Coordinator/Outside Linebackers

So we need to hire one more and arrange our coaches to have a QB, ST and OLB coach. I'm not sure about Paul's demeanor, but is he the type that can act as a calming influence to QBs like McGee could after Bobby ripped into them? I would guess not, but I don't remember. So maybe Cinkovich to QB coach with Paul going back to coach WR?

Paul needs to get back to coaching the WR's, just because he is a great WR coach. Brohm has been mentioned and I think after he gets through working as the OC for the Bowl game he will come to Arkansas to be the QB coach..

I see all this want for a coach who will have a calming effect on the QB like coach Garrett was.  Wouldn't any good coach we get be able to do that.  Think about it.  After you've witnessed BP ripping your QB a new one, what's left to do but build your QB back up.  There would be no need to focus on his mistakes he just made.  BP did that for you.  I would think by default you would then be viewed as the calming coach.  Kind of like your Parents when you were young.  One was the disciplinarian while the other made it better.

Now if both your Parents beat your ass, I don't know what to say.

If Brohm comes in, where does Cinkovich go? Who coaches special teams? I know the coach there doesn't matter because all the good things they do are the players being great and all but apparently teams like having a special teams coach. Does Bobby do it?

I wouldn't be surprised if Brohm joined the staff, but it's hard to see how the numbers work out.

The only way Brohm comes here now is if Horton leaves for Arkansas State.  Marty Biagi will be replacing John L. Smith.  He went down to UAPB after his 2-yr stint as a GA here ended.

Getting back Biagi would be great.  He was a very good recruiter from what I remember.

The practices that I saw, Paul was much more vocal than Bobby.  I think it is possible that Paul may have a calming effect on Bobby.  There is only so much ass chewing that a coach can do, and it seemed like Bobby let Paul handle the majority of it.  Paul is a fantastic WR coach and I hope they figure out a way to get him back to coaching WR's.  He's the most hands on coach that I have ever seen at Arkansas.  He would go line up with a different WR on every play at practice and run the route with them.

Yeah, I went to practice, and now I remember it.  Maybe I got that impression from him in the media, because back then Bobby was pretty cold and reserved.

This.   We need a good cop, but unless Horton leaves and the offensive staff is shuffled around, we're not going to have one.  Cinkovich was on O-Linesman and a receivers coach almost his whole career; he wont be coaching QB's.

Paul will be the QB coach unless Horton leaves.  And if that happens, then the whole staff might look different -- not in terms of the coaches, but what positions they coach.

I suppose we could move Klenakis to RBs, Cinkovich to OL, Paul to WR, and hire someone for QBs, but I don't think Klenakis has ever coached RBs.  If Horton stays, we could move Cink to ST, keep Klenakis at OL, and hire a new QB coach. But that would mean not hiring Biagi.

/situation is fluid

You are a wise man. All they were doing was reading something a listener emailed in. I'm just impressed their listeners can type something legible enough for them to understand.
