I find it hard to believe Petrino would make a statemnet like that unless he was told by McGee himself (who had to have been told from the UAB AD himself) that he was hired.


I assume someone jumped the gun on the announcement.  He gone.


I think he's been the best assistant coach Arkansas has had in a long long long time.  In terms of his character, recruiting skillz, coaching ability, on-field demeanor, etc.  He's a class act and I hope he kicks all kinds of tail at UAB before taking a BCS level job, and then one days comes home to be the head man here.

I don't know if they keep stats on that kind of thing but i remember a bunch of recruits talking about how great Coach K is at recruiting (calling, writing, keeping in touch). It would be interesting to see if the variables could be sorted out.

Most OC's want to be a head coach but this is a bad move. Tuscaloosa has a stranglehold on UAB. The last time that UAB was anywhere close to being relevant was when Watson Brown was there and the bammers ran him off. I hope this guy does well because UAB needs it but he'll have to put up with a lot of aMm.
