« on: December 30, 2011, 09:44:52 AM »
10pm on Showtime against Jessie Nicklow, a Maryland club fighter who is 22-2-3, 8 KOs. At the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, CA it's Taylor's first fight in over 2 years. He suffered a severe concussion and bleeding on the brain after his last fight but has been cleared by 3 specialists and the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Who has had a worse fall from grace? Pavlik or Taylor?

The 29-year-old Pavlik has twice spent time in alcohol rehabilitation facilities over the past two years, was arrested last week and charged with DUI in Canfield, Ohio, for allegedly driving an all-terrain vehicle while drunk and has pulled out of more fights (five) than he has participated in (three) over the past 2½ years.

For those that have followed Jermain's career, you always go back to that first Pavlik fight and think..what if.  If you remember, Jermain had Pavlik hurt badly in the 2nd round.  He knocked Kelly down, bloddied him up pretty bad and when Kelly got back up he was on some very wobbly legs.  JT went in to try and finish him but was throwing some very wild shots and essentially punched himself out while Pavlik covered up and held.  JT was a decent combination away from the ref stopping that fight.

So, where does Jermain's career go if he would've knocked out Pavlik in that 2nd rd??

Or maybe an even more important question...what happens to JT if he fires Nelson instead of Burns after the second Hopkins fight?  The Manny Steward era never comes along.

Also, a lot of people forget or don't even know that if Taylor holds on another ten seconds against Carl Froch, he wins that match and he was leading Abraham on all three cards through the first half of their fight before he finally faded in the last rounds.

Let's hope for Jermain's sake that his comeback goes better than many a fighter before him.

This is spot on.

The firing of Burns was the beginning of the end, but JT has been in EVERY fight since then and arguably should've won them all minus Abraham

The Abraham knock out was vicious.  It hurt me when he got drilled.  I hope he is healthy.  That's all.

Jermain, Jermain.  The guy really only has a couple of options if he wants to succeed again: Start getting mommafrickers outta there in the first half of the fight before he gasses, or start working harder and improve his stamina.  There's nothing stopping him from doing both.  But Jermain's style changed a lot over his last few fights.  He got away from the double and triple jab, which were his mainstay early on, and led to a lot of early KO's for him.  And I don't think he has a glass jaw as many do - he's is just real susceptible to getting KO'd later in fights after he's gassed.  Looks like they purposely matched him up against a softer puncher, a point guy.  So if I see anything besides a KO by Jermain, I'll be disappointed.

Zero interest.

He really does have the work ethic to be called Arkansas' boxing version of Matt Jones.
He doesn't want it enough, he just wants the fame and the cash.

I'd be shocked if he ever got close to winning a respectable title again.
