first sign of trouble for Nicklow and fight is stopped. Nicklow runs around chasing Jermain in the cage.. presumably telling him that the next 2 rounds would be the end of Mr. Taylor.
Jermain looked pretty decent. But the fight answered none of the questions you would've liked to have seen answered, namely:
1) Does Jermain have any gas (I don't mind not having this answered if it had been the result of a 2nd round KO)?
2) Does Jermain have the power in his hands to knock the elite middleweights out?
3) Does Jermain have the chin to take hard punches and impose his will?
The fight stoppage was at the very least questionable. But I honestly could care less because Jermain should've had this guy out on the mat by the end of Round 3. At least that would've answered one of the above questions. Nicklow doesn't have the power to allow the third question to be answered. And I'm not sure we really want to see the first question answered if at all possible. I will say this: Jermain's jab looked real good tonight. At one point, I saw him throw 7 straight jabs. And saw him fire off as many as 4 in quick succession. I guess us fans of Jermain will just have to hope that his lack of appropriate aggression (in my opinion) was a result of him needing and wanting the time in the ring, and not his inability to get an obviously out-classed opponent the frick off of his feet.
