We are dragging.
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale

One of the commentators just said "You never want to have a game against a Savannah State and have Mike Anderson go "jacket-off"."

He kinda laughed after he said it. Starkville I did.

Waithe is easily the best Canadian on the team.

;D

Hogs win 83-66.  Savannah State had closed it to like 69-62 but Hogs turned up the heat the last 4 minutes or so of the game.

:maundoed: I heard that and needed a new keyboard.  For those of you that think we're gonna get our aMm pushed in come SEC play, gtfo.  I can see us at least winning 8-10 on hustle alone.  That isn't great, but who would of thought that MMFA would have put together a 19-21 win season his first time back in the saddle?

I sure hope you're right but I just don't see it.  I've watched 4 games on TV and attended 2.  There's just not a lot of talent there yet.  I hope Mike Anderson gets us back to competing for SEC Championships but I'm in a wait and see mode.

This.  Cautiously optimistic that we go about 33% in SEC play.

Razorback basketball's new slogan should be "Plenty of good seats still available!"

That would look great on the side of one of those $8 cups.

Abron is glued to the floor...he won't give us much more than he already is this season. Hopefully the staff can get to be more explosive by next season.

Mickleson just doesn't know how to use his body yet, give him a year or two and I think by his a junior year you will see a legit Nba talent. Right now he is a poor man's Steven Hill with a better jumper. Actually I don't understand why they don't feed him 15 footers all game...I bet that changes.

If we have discovered anything about this team so far we have figured out our mid range shooters can makea shots. If that continues we should be able to stay in a lot of games.

The bad areas are point blank misses, lazy passes/turnover, poor strategic passing...don't pass a lob into the coffin corner. Most of all we have zero reliable game in the paint, the ball just wills itself in sometimes.

I think 6 and 10 with this team in the sec would be very respectible given the lack of depth. Our lack of height will hurt but not nearly as much as the lack of depth.

Today's ADG sports coverage of this game headline:

"Waithe Clutch in 4th quarter"

Then reporter mentions how Marvell Waithe made 5 consecutive free throws in the fourth quarter.  Did I miss some rules changes?

Listen I'm not expecting an NCAA appearance, but we have 17 SEC games ahead of us.  Even if we drop half of those we still finish up 8-9 in conference and 19-12 over all.  I don't expect us to go undefeated in Bud Walton, but I don't see us dropping every game on the road.  Compare our losses to Alabama (Georgetown, Dayton, Kansas St), Auburn (Seton Hall, Long Beach St, and UTEP), LSU (Coastal Carolina, Northwestern, and South Alabama), Ole Miss (Marquette, Middle Tennessee, Southern Miss, Dayton), Georgia (Cal, Xavier, Colorado, Cinci, Georgia Tech), and Tennessee (Duke, Memphis, Oakland, Pitt, Austin Peay, and Charleston).  Starkville even Miss St lost to Akron.

We've taken care of business at home and beat some teams that even our SEC competition has lost to.  They may be SEC quality, but when has that been anything to be afraid of in basketball?  I don't care if you think it's full on homerism.  I think you guys have Mr. Golden Parachute Syndrome, where you keep expecting this team to fall apart just because of previous coaches.  Don't let go of that rope, while it's still lying on the ground.  O0
