If there was one lesson to learn from this game, it was this: Bama and LSU got all the big-name defensive guys - again. While everyone else in the country is going horseshit crazy over these Mickey Mouse fricking Malazahn - Kelly Bros. - Ricky Ricardo Rodriguez gimmick offenses, Bama and LSU have focused on what their staple has become - the cream of the crop in terms of defensive recruits. Everyone else has been so preoccupied with the top-tier offensive guys that the advantage Bama and LSU have in recruiting defensive guys these days is ridiculous. I'm not sure it's even smart to try to out-recruit them on defense at this point. It may just take a truly top-notch offense to put their defenses in their places. The rest of the world may have just relegated itself to beating them with offense. And the one thing that we have in our favor is that BMFP's offense is not gimmicky. It's straight forward, fundamental offensive football. When we have top notch guys at all positions on offense, we'll be almost impossible to stop. Look what we did this year with no RB to speak of, no O-line play to speak of, inconsistent WR play, and maniacal if not suicidal play by our QB. We're on the cusp of winning a NC, but I don't think we're gonna do it with dominating defense. For now, I think you can leave that to the people we've left it to the last few years.
