I've even seen Arkansas fans use "Arky" from time to time on TD.  :thumb down:

Huddle-no-huddle.

Dumb ass female sideline reporters, who have no bidness on the sidelines, they should be doing something useful like giving me head.

"Well, that win/loss didn't really count because such-n-such happened, and if that doesn't happen then Team X would've won. Therefore, I'm discounting that."

"That play didn't lose the game." BS, sometimes, that play DOES lose the game.

There's no need to bring Julian Horton into this.  It's been over a year now.   8-)

Referrees anticipating calls.

Referrees calling a walk just b/c a guy makes a quick move.  Happens everytime, and sometimes it's not a walk.  If you don't know what I'm talking about, review BJ Young's move in the 2nd half last night that was called walking.  I watched it 5 times.  The ref was an idiot for calling it.  Just b/c you cut with your pivot foot crossing over does not mean its an automatic travel.

Arky

I'm with you if it's in the context of addressing the UA as in, "next week we're playing Arky".  That's just lazy.

But, why, when applied to an individual hailing from the state of Arkansas?  I see it as a badge of honor.

Full disclosure--I'm not a native, so the question is legit fact-finding

Basketball announcers saying about freshmen: "He's not a freshman anymore" late in the season. Yes, he is.

Alternate, throwback, etc uniforms. Fun at first, but it's gotten way out of hand. Pick a uni (one for home, one for the road) and stick with it all season.

To me, the term Arky, when used by someone not from Arkansas, is belittling.  I get images of backwoods people way behind current times.  In the show Beverly Hillbillies, the characters never say where they're from, but make most of their references to this area and SW Missouri.  This is what most of America thought of when they thought of Arkansas, and the term Arky has been around for a long time to collect and carry that stigma.  When I was 15,  I was on vacation with the family in Michigan.  A lady was making small talk and found out that we were from Arkansas.  She asked if we had rented our shoes for the trip.  She was surprised that we owned shoes in Arkansas, and that's just 22 years ago.

That just shows the lady was the one way behind current times, as you put it.  I'd much rather play the role of the squatter in the Arkansas Traveler story, the wiseacre hillbilly.  It applies to any upland Southerner, and flummoxes the Starkville out of outsiders.

the South has risen again, just not in the way most expected.
