All of these drive me nuts. Very few of those nicknames were funny at first, now they just make me want to strangle whomever uses them instead of the proper name.

Inappropriate plural sports metaphors from the talk radio people.

For instance, when speaking of quarterbacks, "Not everyone has the Payton 's, the Phillip River's, the Tom Brady's, the Brett Favre's." Some even add "of the world.

I hate that. There is only one Brady, one Manning, one Favre. Not a plurality of them.

I was thinking about this thread during the game last night while everybody (players, coaches, fans, security guards, janitors, concession stand workers, etc.) in the Mercedes Dome was doing it. Plus, you could tell the LSU players were just doing it out of habit. They already knew they weren't going to find a miracle to suddenly get more than 2 yards on a drive.

Actually Mannings would work, but I agree with your point.
